It's the coronation day for George VI and everybody is celebrating except Clarence, who is in charge of moving an upper class lady's furniture. With Clarence's very poor eyesight, it wasn't going to go well. Jane lends him a hand.
Clarence and Jane are getting on well together. Jane considers Clarence's marriage proposal and decides to have a trial by sharing a house with Clarence. They move to the country into a home that Jane has been bequeathed.
Clarence proposes to Jane and she accepts. However, she doesn't want to share her bed with him just yet. Clarence is given a job moving furniture by the vicar's wife, which results in Jane getting a job as a domestic for her.
Clarence starts to dig up the garden but his poor eyesight is not helping - he ends up planting beads instead of beans. Then he has to set up a new chicken coup but leaves a huge gap in the fence.
Clarence decides to go to the labour exchange looking for a job. He gets a job working for the council at the sewage works. However, his smell sends everybody running and he quits. Jane decides to marry Clarence.
Jane gets a job looking after an elderly lady and Clarence looks after the garden. Again, his short-sightedness causes problems. He takes the lady for a walk but ends up losing her. Clarence and Jane finally get married.
