Champion-jockey Christian Adler is at his peek, but by refusing to be bribed incurs the hatred of self-made would be-socialite Hans Otto Gruber, who isn't accepted by the aristocratic circle. Christian befriends trainer Wolf Kremer, who must sell his prize stud to save his stable from bankruptcy. Christian offers to bid on it for countess Louise Hayn-Hohenstein, but Hans Otto Gruber's jealous wife Sylvia Gruber lures him to over-bid, so the countess deems him unfit to manage her stable, and his wife scorns his 'gift' s he's stick with the stud. Other socialites seek to wriggle into position romantically.
