This month's round up of genre DVDs and Blu-rays features Ray Harryhausen, Willard, rats on the rampage and more...
The underappreciated ‘nature gone wild’ porn horror movie subgenre has a somewhat patchy history, with a viewer’s search more likely to end up in some SyFy channel Megapterranoshark Versus Crocosaur cul-de-sac than something of the calibre of a Jaws or Arachnophobia. Sharks, spiders and gators are all well served, though (alongside the glaring lack of a movie adaptation of Guy N. Smith’s glorious Night Of The Crabs books) rodents have had something of a raw deal.
See related 26 new TV shows to watch in 2017
Fear not, though, faithful readers: we’re not going to drift off into Stuart Little territory just yet (that’ll be next month’s Stuart Little IV: The Rattening), as this month brings with it not one but two seventies rat-themed monster movie classics (well,...

According to Variety, Tony Dow has signed on to direct The Line Kings, a “feature comedy celebrating the endless enthusiasm of Star Wars fans.” Unlike the tragic and ultimately disappointing quest from Fanboys, though, this movie will be about a group of nerds who camp out before the premiere of a new Star Wars movie after learning that Disney will give walk-on roles in the next movie to whoever manages to wait in line for four days. Somehow, this leads to “a battle royale between two fan groups determined to be first.”
Dow has directed a number of TV show episodes across stuff like Coach, Harry And The Hendersons, Babylon 5, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Also, he happens to be same Tony Dow who played Wally Cleaver on Leave It To Beaver, so that’s fun.

When a rogue scientist discovers an immense egg in the dark recesses of a rainforest he thinks hes stumbled across his fame and fortune. But little does he know that it belongs to a terrifying hybrid monster, known only as the Piranhaconda (a moniker only mentioned once in the Entire film and dismissed as a stupid name!). Soon the beast is on the loose, hunting for its unborn child, rampaging through the country and destroying everything in its path in a mass of CGI-enhanced gory-glory.
A killer-creature B-movie from the Roger Corman staple, Piranhaconda is yet another made for Syfy TV movie suprisingly this one comes from director Jim Wynorski, who is well-known in the horror community for successfully mixing T&A and horror.

Television producer, writer, director, actor, and teacher Bob Fraser died Tuesday in Los Angeles after battling cancer. Fraser's workshops, books, and DVD series, titled "An Actor Works," have been used by thousands of actors worldwide.
