All guitar playing in the movie is done by Scott Shelly session guitar player and teacher. One of his most prominent students was a young Randy Rhoads.
Although Leif Garrett had released five albums as a teen idol he still nevertheless had to audition for this film and was cast on the basis of his ability to sing as a singer.
''Surgical Steel'' were an actual real-life band in Tucson and Phoenix in Arizona, USA where the movie shot.
The name of the rock bands in the movie were ''Magic'', ''Pirate'' and ''Surgical Steel''.
The soundtrack of the film was released on LP.
