The movie was originally conceived as a training film using professional actors. As production developed, some additional story lines were added to flesh out the main tale of an Israeli infantry platoon in Lebanon.
I saw it after finishing my compulsory service and fully identified with the characters and situations. Like almost all war movies it suffers from one fault; the incidents portrayed are a composite of what happens or can happen to soldiers in a unit over a protracted period of time or in one intense situation. In this case its concurrent incidents to a smaller group, but still believable and worthwhile.

Extremely realistic like documentary that in 2001 (When I saw it Again) reminds us of the "Mud" of Lebanon, and shows how we got stuck there in the 1980's. A small number of soldiers in Lebanon with there relations with the Lebanese.
