With AMC's "The Walking Dead" regularly trouncing the broadcast networks in ratings these days, it's no surprise that everyone's looking to get into business with the show's executive producer Gale Anne Hurd. She got a pilot order for WWII alien invasion drama "Horizon" at USA Network, NBC's working with her on an adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s CIA assassin novel "The Eleventh Commandment" and AMC's developing a series about Area 51 with her. The most recent network to get into business with Hurd is FX, who according to Deadline have put a new project from her and Universal Cable Productions called "Crash and Burn" into development. Loosely inspired by Kevin Conley's 2009 nonfiction book "The Full Burn: On the Set, at the Bar, Behind the Wheel, and Over the Edge with Hollywood Stuntmen," "Crash and Burn" is a period drama about Doc Dixon, who works as a stuntman in the '70s in.

Brian D. Young ("180 Degrees") has been hired to pen a re-write of the film adaptation of Jeffrey Archer's 2005 novel "False Impression" at New Franchise Media says The Hollywood Reporter.

An action-crime novel set on several continents, the story begins with a woman who escaped the 9/11 attack after being fired by her banker boss. She then helps a British lady try to sell a Van Gogh painting while both a mercenary and an FBI agent are on her trail.

New Franchise acquired the worldwide film, TV and digital rights to ten of Archer's novels a while back with Richard Regen working on a script based on "A Matter of Honor" and its follow-up "Honor Among Thieves" for Kennedy/Marshall. Similarly Gale Anne Hurd is developing a TV adaptation of Archer's"The Eleventh Commandment".

The Eleventh Commandment, the best-selling book series by Jeffery Archer, is getting its very own television adaptation. Fortunately, its getting the treatment by one of the most successful sci-fi/action producers in the industry: Gale Anne Hurd. Her portfolio includes work on projects like The Terminator and The Walking Dead, so hopefully her involvement insures that The Eleventh Commandment gets a TV show it deserves.

Last week it was announced that Frank Marshall was developing a film adaptation of Jeffrey Archer's novel "Matter of Honor".

Today comes word that "Aliens" and "The Walking Dead" producer Gale Anne Hurd is planning a TV adaptation of Archer's "The Eleventh Commandment" reports Reuters.

The book follows Connor Fitzgerald, a deadly CIA assassin who hides the details of his career from his family. Just days away from retirement, the agency's director becomes bent on making Fitzgerald the patsy for a fake assassination on a Russian presidential candidate.

No writer or network is yet attached and it's not known what format the adaptation will take on the small screen (ie. mini-series, limited series, regular series).

The Eleventh Commandment is being adapted into a TV series. Comingsoon reports that New Franchise Media Inc. is turning the Jeffrey Archer bestseller into an ongoing television series. The project is being produced by Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, The Walking Dead) under her Valhalla Entertainment.

The 1998 novel centers on Connor Fitzgerald, a CIA assassin who makes an enemy of agency director Helen Dexter. Dexter has been secretly assassinating foreign politicians with anti-American views with Agent Fitzgerald’s help. On his final mission before retirement, Fitzgerald is set up as “the fall guy” and goes on the run from both the CIA and the Russian government.

Toronto -- Millionaire British novelist Jeffrey Archer is to see a slate of his best-selling novels turned into movie and TV projects by a Toronto private equity player.

 

Jeffrey Steiner, the former Toronto bureaucrat behind Pinewood Toronto Studios, has acquired the worldwide film, TV and digital rights to the thriller novels by Archer, with an eye to striking international co-productions to bring them to the screen.

 

Steiner, a one-time head of the Toronto Economic Development Corp., which stick-handled the development of a major Toronto film studio on the city's waterfront, last year launched New Franchise Media.

 

And he was on hand at the Toronto International Film Festival to unveil a deal to option and turn up to ten of Archer's best-selling novels into movie or TV projects.
