      Elmore Silk's house stood at what is now 40 Ninth Street, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada. When asking for a ride to this location, Julius asks the driver if they are going to New Waterford, which is a neighboring town to Glace Bay. In the movie, the house has the civic number 88 on the outside, it is unclear if the numbers were changed by the filmmakers for shooting, or if the civic numbers in the area have been updated since the movie was filmed. The structure was actually a duplex, Elmore's half has since been demolished, but as of 2012 the other half (38 Ninth St) still stands and appears to be occupied. Update: 38 Ninth St (the other half of Elmore's house) was demolished sometime between 2012 & 2024. As of 2024 both properties are now a vacant lot.

      When departing New York City, Julius stops to refuel the silver Ford. The attendant is positioned as if the fuel door is behind the rear license plate, however the viewer can clearly see the fuel door is on the rear passenger side of the car.

    Not as bad as people say...

    Although filled with some dead air, and the plot just drags on, Candy Mountain can be seen as a mid '80's curio filled with New Wave 80's rock stars (Buster Poindexter! Tom Waits!) and curious cameos (Rita Mcneill???). After being tempted by musical bigshot Poindexter, a struggling musician, (played by Kevin O'Connor, looking all the world like Billie Joe Armstrong) agrees to find a long-thought-dead musician. Off on the road he goes, meeting some wacky people along the way! The acting here is OK, with some on the histronics side. But O'Connor seems to keep things on an even keel. But the problem is, the movie goes on FAR too long, and one senses that even O'Connor was getting tired of the whole thing. Worth a look if you could find it for the curio factor though.
