The three main characters are named after the Japanese names for astronomical constellations:
- Subaru is the Japanese name for the Pleiades
- Hokuto is the Japanese name for the Big Dipper
- Seishirou is the Japanese name for Orion.
The first animated appearances of Subaru Sumeragi, Hokuto Sumeragi, and Seishirou Sakurazuka. The characters would go on to play major roles in the X (1996) movie and X (2001) television series and make guest appearances in the Clamp in Wonderland (1994), Clamp in Wonderland 2 (2007) video clip and Reservoir Chronicle: Tsubasa (2005) television series.
Subaru, Hokuto and Seishirou are all in Clamp's X. Seishirou is also in Tsubasa, Reservior Chronicle.
Tokyo Babylon is a predessor to CLAMP's X series, both featuring the characters Subaru, Seishiro and Hokuto. The events of Tokyo Babylon happen about 9 years before X.
The theme song "Kiss, Kiss" by Hideaki Matsuoka is sung in English.
