    Susan Dey is pretty good....

this is a Lifetime movie, so don't expect too much. The topic has a good message however; Lorraine Touissaint portrays the social worker fed up with drug abusers; Dey is a former cocaine user whose baby is born addicted.

D.W. Moffett is the boyfriend, who tells her to just "get rid" of the baby; when she has the baby, she at least changes and learns a few lessons. The part where her baby is placed in a county home is sad, and we see how the system, once a child is in it, is NOT a good place to be.

Look for Piper Laurie (always excellent) as Susan Dey's alcoholic mother. The film has a few good moments, showing how denial functions in the alcoholic family; Drug abuse and alcoholism are sometimes connected; the mother has lived in denial all her life, tells Susan Dey she could never be a good mother to her child. Eventually Dey learns to control her life, overcome her addiction. The movie takes a few shortcuts, but it does have a decent message. 6/10.
