Certainly not a mainstream movie. Never will be too. Quite enjoyable though. A Russian intellectual, living together with his wife, takes an idiot from an asylum and starts living with him. As can be imagined, this doesn't go about smoothly. Not enough room in the house for three people but enough room in the script for strange and funny scenes. The maker of the film seems to say something in this film about the Russian psyche and Russian intellectuals. I didn't get it really but I can imagine the Russian psyche is a bit mixed up.
"Living with an Idiot" is a dramatic comedy by Aleksandr Rogozhkin. A psychological ironic parable based on the story of Viktor Erofeev, famous among other things for his studies of the work of the Marquis de Sade. It is the sadomasochism of the protagonist - a Russian intellectual who invited an idiot to his first education in his house, which leads to the reincarnation and complete change of roles of all participants in the triangle: the idiot, his wife and the intellectual himself.
