Although the film was passed uncut for cinema in 1995 the video certificate was rejected and the film ended up banned by the BBFC for 8 years due to its controversial subject-matter. It was finally passed fully uncut on DVD in 2001.
When filming in a council flat location in south London, Georgina Whitbourne was so convincing in her portrayal as a hysterically screaming victim that two vans loads of policemen arrived and stormed the set to save her, bringing filming to a halt.
