Producer Lawrence Bender plays the character "Long Haired Yuppie-Scum" in this film, who he played in Pulp Fiction (1994) and Four Rooms (1995), both written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, implying that this film does takes place in the same universe as all of Tarantino's films, and most of Robert Rodriguez's films.

The film was produced by Lawrence Bender, who also produced the Oscar nominated hit, Pulp Fiction, which came out weeks after this film came out in the Fall of 1994 after a limited release in August.
