The show had a standard 13 episode commitment, but production was halted after the 11th was taped. 6 episodes were broadcast, concluding with a teaser for the unaired 7th show.
A blind character named George was perpetually unaware of the mayhem and destruction that he caused with his cane. The National Federation of the Blind began protesting the show following its debut, and the organization took credit for its cancellation. However, ABC attributed the purge to low ratings (it ranked 77 out of 101 primetime shows), with creator Susan Harris bemoaning the fact that episodes had aired opposite the Country Music Awards and three high-rated baseball playoff games.
Mark Blankfield previously portrayed a different blind character in the Mel Brooks series The Nutt House (1989), which was also pulled after 6 broadcasts.
