Soccer star Julie Johnston wanted to make sure her wedding to NFL player Zach Ertz included all the traditional customs, but with some personalized touches to make the day all theirs.
So along with her father walking her down the aisle, dining and dancing, the day included a flower girl and ring bearer decked out in the couple’s sports jerseys, a cake topper and cappuccinos embossed with footballs and soccer balls and an after-party stocked with the pair’s favorite candy, Justin’s peanut butter cups.

Responsible for one of the most iconic horror novels (and films…and posters!) of all time, The Exorcist author William Peter Blatty has passed away at age 89. Blatty started as a scriptwriter with credits including the Blake Edwards comedy A Shot In The Dark and (uncredited) The Omega Man. He adapted his 1971 best-seller The Exorcist for the screen in 1973, which resulted in his Oscar win for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’. In 1980, he directed an unusual film I saw at the theater then, but have never seen since. The Ninth Configuration, an odd allegory starring Stacey Keach and Neville Brand about a remote castle that served as an insane military asylum, deserves to be rediscovered. In 1996, he wrote and directed The Exorcist III, based on his novel Legion. Just last year, the director’s cut of the film, now titled The Exorcist III: Legion, was released on Blu-ray. Blatty had a type of blood cancer.

An American television classic is about to get a fresh remix for a new generation.
One Day at a Time, the groundbreaking Norman Lear sitcom about a divorced mother of two, is being rebooted for Netflix, with season one premiering on Jan. 6. The show, which originally ran for nine seasons between 1975 and 1984 with stars Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips, Valerie Bertinelli and Pat Harrington Jr., is now set in Los Angeles with Justina Machado and Rita Moreno as the matriarchs of a three-generation Cuban-American family.
More: 'One Day at a Time ' Star Pat Harrington Jr. Dead at 86
If the original’s bold storylines are any indication, the reboot of One Day at a Time will also give a current voice to countless struggling and striving families around the country and offer laughter through tears and tough times. Meanwhile, the most important life lessons learned from the original series still endure:

The human condition. It is a tricky and complicated concept for us mortals to grasp in terms of our ugly, unpredictable behaviors. However, when one applies a revealing spotlight on the animal kingdom and takes a look at their on-screen aggression against humans it becomes a whole new ballgame. Occasionally, the source of frustration embedded in these wayward creatures is often times triggered by the psychological prompting of the bad seed humans responsible for their behavioral tirade against nature and man.
In Creature Feature: Top Ten Animals Gone Bad in the Movies we will look at the bombastic beasts gone ballistic in cinematic society. Maybe you have your own selections of haywire critters out to cause random havoc? If so then they probably would suffice within the theme of this movie column when detailing the animals that run amok on land, by sea or in the air.

It’s time to move on, and what better way than Will discovering Sonny’s deep dark secret.
Sonny comes in to the club, and Will tells him he’s been filling Abby and Ben in on the terms of Gabi’s plea deal. Will asks Abby if she’s upset that Julie didn’t get her way and send Gabi to prison for life, and Abby says no, she just doesn’t know what to think since she found out what Gabi did to Melanie. Will says “What did Gabi do?” and Sonny looks like he’s going to crap his pants.
Hope tells Rafe that there’s still one last issue they need to deal with before they close Gabi’s case. Somewhere Sonny just peed a little.
Abby tells Will and Sonny the Hot Stalker Andrew story, and is surprised that Will didn’t already know about it.

“I know you didn’t kill Nick … because I did that.”
Gabi rushes and tells Will “I know you didn’t kill Nick. because I did.” Hey, what happened to the “That” at the end? It completely loses all its impact without the “That!”
Sad, broken, devastated shell of a man Eric is the Hottest Eric.
Ej tells Gabi to shut the hell up, but Gabi keeps wanting to confess. Hope tells everyone that there’s evidence pointing to a new suspect, and the Da agrees to gibe Ej and Gabi time to confer. Will tells Gabi ‘Just listen to Ej. This isn’t all black and white.” Sure it is. And soon it’ll be all Orange, Gabi. Hope you like jumpsuits.
Sami, Lucas, Will and Sonny enter the conference room, and Sami tells Will she can’t believe he would be willing to go to prison for Gabi.

Nick is murdered in Town Square. Pick Your Perpetrator! I didn’t include E.J.’s hired hitman because there’s no way it would not be a Salem citizen.
Is it Sonny? Will? Vengeful Chandler Massey? Melanie? Sami? E.J.? Ben?
Or could it be Abigail? Gabi? Time Warp Caroline? Ciara? The Ghost Of Dr. Reid Oliver? Brian’s Right Nipple? Or could it be … Nick … who set this up as his last “F*ck You” to everyone?
Will asks “You were going to shoot Nick weren’t, you?” but he sort of emphasizes the wrong word and it sounds awkward. Sonny says “Yes.”
Sami is rampaging around the mansion, and when Ej asks what’s wrong, she says “I can’t just sit around here waiting for the hitman to call saying he’s called Nick.” You’re right. Hey, why not head to Dairy Queen for a peanut buster parfait.

That was really uncomfortable to watch. It’s so difficult to see Robbie clearly afraid of Will, wondering what will set him off and make Will go from holding him to hitting him. Will is acting like Robbie should just get over it and that some flowers will solve the problem without actually addressing it.
And it’s tough to see Robbie scramble to explain to his friends how he hurt himself and then have to fearfully make Will understand that he never told anyone what really happened. This situation has established a pattern at this point, everything is fine, Will loses his temper and hits Robbie, Will does something to make amends and things are peaceful... for awhile.
But now Robbie is obviously aware that Will’s abuse isn’t just a one off or a mistake, but something that could happen...

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including Girls, The Good Wife, New Girl and Supernatural!
1 | Could there a correlation between Andy Samberg’s rather random Saturday Night Live return/face time and the fact that he now has a sitcom pilot in contention?
2 | What did Girls‘ Allison Williams do to piss off Lena Dunham? Three episodes into Season 2 and her Marnie character has already endured a painfully awkward sex scene with a gay man and, this week, a threesome involving a doll!

If you take stories like The Hunger Games, The Host and Warm Bodies to heart, you might think we don’t have much to look forward to in the distant post-apocalyptic future. But in the more immediate days ahead, like say, the rest of 2013, there’s a whole lot to be excited for — especially if you like ladies who kick ass, stand up for what they believe in and protect their loved ones at all costs. It’s going to be a great year for heroines in movies, on TV and in books — but not necessarily the easy-to-love/worship kind. Jennifer Lawrence‘s Katniss Everdeen (this year in Catching Fire), The Americans‘ Elizabeth (Keri Russell), Beautiful Creatures‘ Lena (Alice Englert) and The Great Gatsby’s Daisy (Carey Mulligan) are complex women and girls who don’t automatically know what’s right, and sometimes they have to choose saving themselves over saving the world.

Septuagenarian pop star Cliff Richard was (typically) seeing life through rose-tinted shades when he starred in Summer Holiday, back in 1963. Most Brits heading off to Europe this month won’t be travelling in an old London double-decker, like clean-cut Cliff and his pals in Peter Yates’s musical. Above all, they’ll be hoping that their vacation doesn’t turn out to be anything like in the movies. Cliff may have been weaned on a wholesome diet of Elvis and Gidget, but...

A frozen Db is found at a construction site and we get to see Beckett (Stana Katic) getting ready for work, with her gun, watch and necklace with ring on it. Wearing her red coat and blue top (those being Superman's colours!) Castle (Nathan Fillion) arrived at the scene before even Esposito (Jon Heurtas) did. "My first cold case" he quips. Lanie (Tamala Jones) agrees with him, it's not funny but it's true. The Db wasn't there last night and Castle comments they may as well be looking for ruby slippers (those worn by Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.) Beckett adds the bit about the flying monkeys dumping her there. Castle comments on the killer's Mo: he froze her since he either wanted to keep her as a souvenir or he dumped the Db, Beckett concludes cos he didn't want to be reminded of her. They need to look...

When I was a young kid, my father sat me down one day and said, “Okay, now I’m going to teach you about comedy.” Without hesitation he pulled two movies out – Blake Edwards’ A Shot in the Dark (his personal favorite, and mine too) and The Party. Even at that young age I found both films highly entertaining, and over the years I’d fall in with so many of Blake Edwards’ films – from the iconic Breakfast at Tiffanys to Victor/Victoria to Blind Date. Edwards was a master at physical comedy and deadpan delivery; his comedy hit on all cylinders, so much so that films today are still borrowing bits and pieces of his best stuff. Unfortunately Blake Edwards passed away last night from complications with pneumonia. He was 88. His wife Julie...

Writer-director Blake Edwards died at his home surrounded by his family today at age 88. Blake's masterpieces in film included "The Pink Panther" films and cultural marker, "10" starring Dudley Moore and Bo Derek. Edwards' style of filmmaking was honed with the "Pink Panther" films, a series that celebrated the bumbling French detective Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers). Male mid-life crisis was the premise of his famous "10." This was Edwards' biggest box office success. Also of note were his films, Hollywood satire "S.O.B.," and his wife Julie Anfdrews' scene stealing moments in "Victor/Victoria," plus "Switch" and "Skin Deep." A native of Tulsa, Okla., Edwards moved to Los Angeles and raised by his mother and his step-father Jack...

Actor whose good looks and charm took him to the heights of Hollywood with films such as Some Like It Hot and The Defiant Ones
Born into a family of Hungarian Jews who had emigrated to the Us, Bernard Schwartz – the boy who became the actor Tony Curtis – could scarcely have dreamed of the wealth, fame and rollercoaster life that awaited him. Curtis, who has died aged 85, starred in several of the best films of the 1950s, including Sweet Smell of Success (1957), The Defiant Ones (1958) and Some Like It Hot (1959). He enjoyed a long career thanks to his toughness and resilience (despite insecurities that demanded years of therapy).
