In Texas, waitress Vickie Daniel is separated from her husband and raises her two children alone. When she meets the wealthy lawyer Price Daniel, Jr. , son of the governor, at the diner, he offers his services for free to help her with her divorce. During the process, they have a love affair and get married when Vickie's divorce is final. They move in to his house and soon Vickie has two other children with him. Meanwhile she realizes that her husband is an alcoholic, addicted to marijuana, bisexual and abusive, and she asks him for a divorce. During an argument, Vickie shoots Daniel dead and goes to court to fight for custody of her children and prove her innocence. What will her sentence be?
