10.3 Soul Survivor

Well, that didn’t last very long did it?

By the end of the episode, Dean is back to being human, Castiel’s got more grace courtesy of Crowley and it looks like we’ve got a new Big Bad on the horizon. After last week’s fairly action-packed instalment, Soul Survivor dials everything back for a more talkative approach that re-aligns everyone in their proper places following the first two episodes. The episode may get things back to normal a bit quicker than we all wanted (I shall miss sassy Deanmon if he is truly gone), but it’s another strong one and features some emotional moments for the brothers Winchester. However, everything’s still a little unsettled.

Recently, CW served up the new,official synopsis/spoilers for their upcoming "Supernatural" episode 3 of season 1. The episode is entitled, "Soul Survivor," and it sounds like things will get quite interesting as things get so bad with demon Dean that Crowley turns to Castiel for help, and more! In the new, 3rd episode press release: "Sam is going to continue his efforts to save Dean from the Mark of Cain. Crowley will realize Dean's demonic antics are starting to cause problems for him in Hell so he will search out an unlikely ally--Castiel." Episode 3 is set to air on Tuesday night, October 21st at 8pm central time on The CW. Stay tuned.

It turns out that we're going to see a new chick, named Rowena, arrive on the scene in the very first episode, and she's described as being an elegant lady that's looking to regain her power base. She may even rock a Scottish accent too. Her role will be recurring, so we'll see her from time to time. Sylvester Stallone has managed to seize another role as a mercenary: he is set to star in an animated web series called "Soul Survivor." For now, the only information on the project is that the protagonist -- played by Stallone -- is a “last-of-his kind mercenary”, whatever that means.

Behind the show is Lionsgate, whose CEO John Feltheimer announced the Stallone-starring animation show during a panel at the Milken Institute Global Conference. Lionsgate have already sold other three web series, two of them to Hulu Plus, including "Orange Is the New Black" from "Weeds" creator Jenji Kohan. However, "Soul Survivor" is yet to find online distribution, though undoubtedly, there are a handful of options of choose, and certainly, the name brand of Stallone will be attractive to those looking to lock in a certain demographic for advertising.

Fans of Sylvester Stallone and/or entertainment properties rated “M” for “Manly” just concluded one exciting news week. First, Lionsgate released the full trailer for Expendables 2. The upcoming sequel to Stallone’s shameless, self-indulgent, but still lovable romp ridden with explosives and other action stars is set to debut in theaters August 2012. [Editor’s Aside: It’s also worth noting the Expendables 2 trailer was exclusively released not in theaters as a preview to another high-octane, armed forces flick, nor as a spot on some television property like Entertainment Tonight, but on IGN’s YouTube Channel. Anna Hutchison ("Cabin in the Woods"), Jenna Lind ("Burning Man") and Gwendoline Taylor ("Blue Mermaid") have all joined the cast of the third season of Starz's "Spartacus" which will begin production soon for airing early 2013.

Dope boys across the entire country are preparing to go crazy. On Saturday, Young Jeezy kicked off his Hustlerz Ambition Tour in D.C., and Sunday night, the Snowman hit New York City for the second of 22 stops.

"I definitely wanna get out and show everybody the great and amazing music off the new album and just get a chance to perform it for my fans and the cats that really ride with the real," Jeezy told MTV News before he took the stage at Irving Plaza on Sunday. "We kicked it off in D.C. yesterday and today it's New York, second day of the tour, so you know I'm ready to turn up.

Chicago – Having played through dozens of survival horror games and become pretty knowledgeable on the entire universes of “Resident Evil” and “Silent Hill,” it’s rare for this video game critic to honestly experience fear while playing a new title. And yet I’ll never forget the day I got to the school in 2009’s “F.E.A.R. 2.” It was simply terrifying. I was hoping “F.E.A.R. 3” would build on what that unexpectedly-great title did so well. Instead, it’s another disappointing sequel in a season of them although this one’s more of a slight step down than a total nose dive.

“F.E.A.R. 3” undeniably switches the focus from atmosphere and fear to balls-to-the-wall action. It’s a brutal, violent experience that hits you over the head instead of getting under your skin. At first, the switch in tone and style is truly disappointing.

Warner Bros. Interactive’s F.E.A.R. 3, is another paranormal horror first person shooter continuing the F.E.A.R. heritage of frenetic combat, compelling narrative and tension-filled gameplay while evolving the franchise with unique divergent co-op. The chill-inducing game is now available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC.

In F.E.A.R. 3, players can take on the role of Point Man, a genetically enhanced super-soldier, or the undead spirit of his brother Paxton Fettel, a paranormal entity who possesses incredible psychic powers. The two brothers have a vicious history but must work together in an uneasy alliance to pursue Alma Wade, their tortured and psychically gifted mother, who is about to give birth to something that could destroy the world.

The F.E.A.R. series has come a long way in six years, but is there room for another Fps on the market?

F.3.A.R. picks up the story just nine months after the climax from the original F.E.A.R. Alma, the gore-soaked and incredibly creepy little girl from the previous games, is about to give birth. Once that player has been chosen, they will be turned into a spectre, with the ability to possess enemies. It will be their goal to corrupt the remaining squad members before time runs out. If a player is corrupted, they “switch teams”, and their objectives to win the game will change. Players will need to work together to either escape the corrupted or band together to corrupt the remaining members.

In the spirit of movies that make you fear going to the movies comes The Hills Run Red on DVD. Tyler (Tad Hilgenbrinck) is a film geek obsessed with an ’80s film called The Hills Run Red. CBS has started giving "Medium" a housewarming party by re-airing the past episodes and releasing a new promo. On Tuesday, July 21, the Eye Network aired the first episode of season 5, "Soul Survivor", and released a promo that shows the transition from NBC to CBS.

In the promo which is titled "Welcome to the CBS Family!", the cast, including lead actress Patricia Arquette, explain what's the deal with the show. They emphasize on the presence of thriller, supernatural phenomenon and suspense on top of the normality of a harmonious family.

In the end of the promo, creator Glenn Gordon Caron explains that after the season 5 finale where Allison Dubois (Patricia) was in a coma, she will wake up in the new home and wonder whether the brain tumor will affect her psychic ability.

The season 6 opener will air Friday, September 25 at 9/8c with episode "Deja-Vu All Over Again".

Television Rating: 3.0/5.0 Chicago – “Medium” is like TV comfort food. NBC’s paranormal mystery will never break new ground but is almost always entertaining. Each episode and overall season has a way of blending into each other, but there’s something comforting about a Monday night staple that is, at the very least, consistently satisfactory and sometimes better.

Take for example the fifth season opener, “Soul Survivor”. It is an episode that, except for a few character details, could have been in any season of the show. If you’re looking for a series with more pronounced character arcs and development, “Medium” is not the show for you.

"Medium" is entering a new season this Monday, February 2 with the episode "Soul Survivor". In the series premiere, there has been a case of mistaken identity where Allison suspects that a murderer is a man whose status on the record is already dead.

Allison tries to help Devalos solve the recent murder of his friend's sister, but her dreams keep pointing to the friend's first husband, Nathan, who died in a car accident two years ago. The case takes an unexpected turn once she learns more about the woman's current husband, Joel. Meanwhile, Bridgette is sent to the principal's office for drawing nude pictures of her art teacher.

Max Casella ("The Sopranos") guest stars as Joel. His scene can be seen in the clip where Allison is given the new case.
