- A man infected with a deadly virus boards Quantum Airlines flight 66 in Frankfurt, Germany. The US government must stop the plane before it lands at JFK International Airport.
- When a lethal virus is believed to have taken over a passenger plane, Captain James Holland (Richard Dean Anderson) frantically seeks an emergency landing in a safe haven. According to specialists on the ground, no doctor can cure them, and if the virus is what they think it is, it has the power to kill millions within days. Now, as no country will receive them, and the CIA wants to shoot them down, it's up to Holland to navigate a maze of attacks, prove to the government that the 256 innocent passengers are not infected and save the lives of everyone on board.
- Quantum Airlines flight 66 has just taken off from Frankfurt, Germany bound for New York's JFK International Airport with 247 passengers aboard. After take-off, a man infected with a Doomsday Virus passes out while a flight attendant and doctor try to save the man. The pilot tries to land the plane but can't because the people on the ground know about the virus. An ambassador and his secretary help the pilot struggle through the government's secret attempt to shoot flight 66 out of the air.
