Without going into to many details of the movie, I will say it's one of those movies which was a nice surprise. I think it's one movie for Jennifer Connelly, where it shows that she's a really great actress. It's also not like a lot of her movies, where she's just the beautiful women. She's warm, lovable, and she draws you into her character. The rest of the cast is really good also, but I think this is Jennifer's movie. I watched this movie, over & over a number of times, and I have to say I love it more each time I see it! It's just about friends getting together, in a house with a special person on a boat docked, close to them. They all have issues to deal with, and this get together brings it all to a head. Just take my word, you will love this movie. For me it's the kind of movie I felt was a special gift that was given to me. Rent, or buy it. It's well worth it!

I saw the movie... Oh my God... parts of it, because half of the time I was fighting against sleeping...
The only thing that I take out of that crap is the great performer Jennifer Connelly....
I would like to ask her agent why he (or her) scheduled a film like FAR HARBOR ....
It`s a another pill like MELATONINE.....
Thank you.

So mannered and "actor-y" you want to scream, this film is notable only for the participation of the always-wonderful Dan Futterman. This is the nadir of Jennifer Connelly's self-conscious, "aren't-I-a-fine-actress?" film turns (at least she's not relying on her breasts as usual). Not worth the time.
I saw this film on the Sundance channel. The film is quite special. It is very simple film, but yet it is not. It only introduces 8 characters-Brad, Kiki, Arabella, Ellie, Ryland, Jordan, Frick, and Trey. The film was one of the most beautiful and moving pieces I had seen in a long time, with a heart felt soundtrack and moving cinematography, and ofcourse wonderful acting all around. Ignore bad comments on this film, and see it for what it is- a great movie, Bravo John Huddles. And Thanks.

An isolated group of people talk fest movie, with quite wealthy and relatively young people near New York City. The dramatic focus is mainly on the hostess, who has a tragic story behind her fragile psyche, and one of the guests, who is professionally failing so badly that he is now focusing on 'truth,' in the most hurtful way, to all except the hostess. A Steven Spielberg-like presence, called Sprechman, nearly dominates the story without ever appearing. More or less worth watching, as a tearfultime filler, but not worth keeping.
two stars: only for filling time
