If the Emmys had an award category for “Best Meta Episode in A Sitcom About Psychotic Pennsylvania Bar Owners,” they’d still find a way to snub It’s Always in Philadelphia.
When you’re the stars, producers and writers of the longest-running live-action sitcom in American television history, every now and then, you have to take a good, hard look at your own formula and see what works and what doesn’t. Then, you have to take that self-examination and turn it into one of the best episodes in the history of TV comedy. Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton understand this charge well, and throughout It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s record-breaking 16 seasons, they’ve created some of the finest meta comedy ever with enough meta episodes to make up an entire meta season.

Dexter Fletcher was advised to step in to direct 'Bohemian Rhapsody' so he knew what to avoid on 'Rocketman'.The 57-year-old filmmaker stepped in to helm the last few weeks on the Queen biopic after Bryan Singer was fired and though he had begun pre-production on the Sir Elton John movie, producer Matthew Vaughn could see the benefit of him working on both projects.Dexter - who was only credited as executive producer on 'Bohemian Rhapsody' because of DGA rules - told The Hollywood Reporter: "The truth was that I’d been involved with Bohemian Rhapsody a couple of years earlier when it was at Sony, with a different actor attached. I got a long way through the process, in fact, and I was pretty much in the first week of pre-production when it fell apart. "So I knew that material well, and I knew that Queen knew me,...

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is the longest-running cast member of the franchise and has been on the show since the second season.
Most Rhoa fans hardly know what a show would be like without Kandi, and it appears that she has no intentions on leaving anytime soon, and said she likes being a Housewife.
But there have been swirling rumors about the return of former Atlanta Housewife and current star of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip star, Phaedra Parks, being brought back into the fold to hold a peach once more.
Kandi and Phaedra were close friends at one time, but that all came to a head during Season 9, when Phaedra accused Kandi and her husband, Todd Tucker, of attempting to drug and sexually assault Housewife Porsha Williams.

The two met in 1995 and split in 2003, though share 17-year-old daughter Lily, who remains both of the actors' main priority.

Kate Beckinsale and her ex, Michael Sheen, may have one of the most amazing relationships post-split that we've ever seen.
The two dated for eight years before breaking up in 2003, and are parents to their 17-year-old daughter, Lily Sheen. Et recently spoke to the 43-year-old British actress while she was promoting her new film, Underworld: Blood Wars, when she shared that the two still spend holidays together, as well as with Sheen's girlfriend, comedian Sarah Silverman.
"Well, we had Thanksgiving at his girlfriend's house and they're having Christmas at our house," Beckinsale tells Et's Ashley Crossan. "We like hanging out with each other, so it's not like, 'Oh, who gets Lily?' or whatever. It's like, 'Whose house are we going to be at?'"

Update 11:30 A.M.: In a statement shared with Et on Sunday, Michael Sheen clarified his statements on future political endeavors, noting that he never said he was "quitting acting."
"I did one interview with The Times of London a few weeks ago, parts of which (including a headline that is not a quote) have been picked up by a lot of other outlets. I Did Not declare that I'm 'quitting acting and leaving Hollywood' to go into politics," he said. "In the actual original interview I said I have become more involved with community issues back at home over the last few years and because of the political situation it's something I would like to focus on more."
"The interviewer asked me what that meant for my career and I said it might mean I work less as an actor and maybe even stop for a while At Some Point. But I don't...

The brutal beating came during a week two news crews are filming Doctor Samir Chachoua, fueling rumors the troubled actor wants to silence the doc about the successful treatments he received With his stunning revelation last fall that he’s HIV positive, Sheen had the potential to finally use his celebrity status for good use again by promoting safe lifestyle choices for people living with the illness. The recently released high energy trailer of Gulaab Gang has already caught fancy of die hard fans and the industry alike. Words of appreciation have been pouring in from all quarters.
Shah Rukh Khan too, recently, expressed his enthusiasm at the thought of the two Bollywood divas sharing screen space. The king of Bollywood, who has starred in innumerable films with both Madhuri and Juhi, recently tweeted, “@anubhavsinha too excited about Gulab Gang. My two favouritest actors coming together..drool time just at the thought of it. All the best.”
It seems that even Shah Rukh can’t wait to get his eyes on Gulaab Gang, so much so that he poured out his feelings on the popular social networking platform. Bollywood biggies like Farah Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Dia Mirza, Nikhil Advani, among many others, have also had words of praise for the trailer and the stellar cast.

Thirteen years after they all graduated, it is reunion time at East Great Falls High School for the American Pie Gang. Unlike the thinned down cast list for American Pie: The Wedding, this time they are all here – Oz, Jim, Stifler, Finch, Kevin, Vicky, Heather, Michelle, Jim’s Dad and Stifler’s Mum. Some have settled down, some have moved on, some are content, some not. Many shenanigans ensue.
*****
The original American Pie trilogy was (very much like many trilogies) a fine working example of the law of diminishing returns. Characters were increasingly presented as much the same, only more so, scenarios were built up with the pay off (usually at the expense of Jim’s dignity) painfully obvious to see and the crude/vulgar quotient was steadily ramped up. Increasingly hard to find was the sweetness and good-naturedness of the first film, as gross-out became the new name of the game.

Olivia de Havilland No matter how widely publicized Charlie Sheen's $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros. and Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre after Sheen was fired from the television show, it doesn't seem at all probable that the Platoon and Wall Street star will make history like Olivia de Havilland did back in the mid-1940s. Even if his case ever makes it to court. De Havilland, who had entered Warners as a leading lady in 1935 in films such as the sumptuous A Midsummer Night's Dream, the programmer Alibi Ike, and her highly successful first pairing with Errol Flynn, Captain Blood, had by the early '40s become a two-time Oscar nominee and one of the studio's most important contract players. In 1943, the actress and her Gang Tyre lawyers filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. — a radically different entity in those days — because the studio kept extending...

You might have noticed the coverage of this years ultra-sized Fantasia film festival in the Reviews and Interviews column of the site from a number of contributors taking in the festival: Mack, Shelagh, Peter, Todd, and myself, as well as a plethora of other Twitch writers hither and yon. Covering a festival of this size is a massive undertaking and I hope you enjoyed all the updates, interviews, and reviews. Rest assured there are still a few more to come. As Fantasia winds down with a screening of Metropolis Extended Edition and full orchestra, it seems to have been a raging success this year across the board. The festival announced its Jury and Audience awards, and they are below. It seems that the Subversive Serbia sidebar was a big hit, with controversial A Serbian Film getting one of the big audience awards.

Questioning Greatness with Adam Rifkin:
Earth’S Premiere Storyteller
We (Bob Rose, me, I?) at the Opinion In A Haystack Department are proud to announce that I (we?) were (was?) given the chance to pick the brain bucket of Hollywood’s supreme philosopher and film-creationist, Sir Adam Rifkin (facebook, twitter, myspace.) He’s the filmmaker responsible for Detroit Rock City, The Chase, The Dark Backward, and, more recently, the award winning Look. I was able to sit down with Mr. Rifkin, in front of our respective computers, and interview him, via email, about a plethora of assorted, varied, diverse, sundry, indiscriminate, and heavily kaleidoscopic ideas.
I originally sent Mr. Rifkin over 3,000 questions, most of which involved very uncomfortable queries about his family lineage, sexual fears, and Laserdisc-replica collection. He answered all of them in full detail, thus passing the interview-qualification-process, which allowed me to send him the 16 questions you will find below.
