“Dead by Daylight” is coming to Hollywood.

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are teaming up with Behaviour Interactive, the largest Canadian gaming studio, to develop a feature film adaptation of the hit horror multiplayer game, “Dead by Daylight.”

Since its launch in 2016, “Dead by Daylight” has reached over 50 million players worldwide, with two million players stepping into The Fog, the terrifying mist that players must make their way through in order to survive, every day.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the ‘Dead by Daylight’ universe,” said Stephen Mulrooney, executive vice president at Behaviour Interactive. “At Behaviour, our motto is to create unique moments, together, forever. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft ‘Dead by Daylight’s’ killer entrance onto the big screen.”

Who knew that a humble $20 million horror movie from 2013 had so much franchise potential?

When The Conjuring first flickered into life five years ago, few would have thought that James Wan’s haunted house movie would spawn Hollywood’s next major cinematic universe, which now boasts four feature films with a fifth on the way.

A year after Warner Bros. rode female power all the way to the bank with the box office success of “Wonder Woman,” it is sending in Danny Ocean’s sister to steal away a big pay day at movie theaters with Village Roadshow’s “Ocean’s 8.”

This spinoff of Steven Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s” trilogy is expected to nab the No. 1 spot this weekend from the plummeting “Solo,” taking an opening weekend total of $35-40 million from 4,000 screens. WB is projecting slightly lower with $33-38 million and is reporting the budget at $70 million.

By comparison, “Ocean’s Eleven” was made on an $85 million budget and opened domestically to $38.1 million. While that figure is not an apples-to-apples comparison because “Eleven” was released in 2001, consider that the George Clooney-fronted heist classic went on to have incredible legs with a $183 million domestic total and $450 million made worldwide.

While this film is certainly riding on the coattails of the ‘John Wick‘ franchise, it actually reminds me of ‘Smokin’ Aces‘ more than anything else. Warner Bros UK have unleashed the first trailer for crime thriller starring Jodie Foster as a fearless Nurse who stands for no nonsense.

Written and directed by Drew Pearce, Sofia Boutella, Dave Bautista, Jeff Goldblum, Zachary Quinto and Charlie Day join Foster on the cast.

Jean Thomas, aka The Nurse (Jodie Foster), is the manager of the Hotel Artemis, an ultra-exclusive, members-only hospital hidden in a hotel redolent of faded ‘20s glamour. Tough, sharp and utterly fearless, The Nurse treats an assortment of assassins, gunrunners, thieves and gangsters in an unexpected state-of-the-art emergency room capable of providing a new liver with a 3-D printer or injecting a patient with nanobots that heal from the inside out.
