Who knew that a humble $20 million horror movie from 2013 had so much franchise potential?
When The Conjuring first flickered into life five years ago, few would have thought that James Wan’s haunted house movie would spawn Hollywood’s next major cinematic universe, which now boasts four feature films with a fifth on the way.
We are, of course, referring to The Nun, Corin Hardy’s horror prequel poised to whisk viewers off to 1950s Romania, where the demonic Valak stalks an ancient monastery. It’s due for release early next month – September 7th, to be specific – meaning James Wan and Co. are currently doing the press rounds to drum up excitement for what is undoubtedly one of 2018’s big-name horror movies.
And here, the filmmaker, who currently has his hands full with Aquaman, reflects on building an entire cinematic universe out of The Conjuring.

Jodie Foster isn’t retiring any time soon, but the Oscar-winning actress and four-time film director is already thinking hard about her legacy. “If I have an apology to make for my whole career [as] I’m being given my last rites, [it’s that] I’m really sorry that it was very hard for me to say yes,” she told IndieWire during a recent interview. “I didn’t make as many movies as I was hoping I would. … I do regret that I didn’t direct more in all those years, that I only managed to direct four movies in the course of 30 years or something. That’s just ridiculous, but I got busy. I had kids. I had a company. I was acting.”
It doesn’t take much to get Foster, who started acting when she was just a toddler, to open up about her professional philosophy. More than anything, it’s...

So film fans, are you up for an action-filled visit to the future? Now, this trek isn’t of the “star” variety, we’re not “warp-speeding” to far-off planets in a far-off century. This story is very earth-bound, much like the two Blade Runner flicks, and also within this twenty-first century. The skies aren’t filled with flying cars, rather the sun is nearly obliterated from billowing smoke rising off bombed-out buildings and street skirmishes. Tomorrow’s not a glistening utopia in the next decade, but we’re not a Mad Max wasteland quite yet. Oh, and this story doesn’t focus on the forces of law and order like Max and Rick Deckard. No, the central setting is a haven for criminals, a “members-only” secret hospital that’s taken over several floor of La’s crumbling Hotel Artemis.
It’s 2028, exactly ten years from now, and Los Angeles is a war zone.

It has been five years since Elysium, the last time Jodie Foster headlined a movie on camera, and for her return she has chosen another futuristic tale, Hotel Artemis — a rather odd duck of a project. In this dystopian crime thriller, she is considerably aged up and known only as The Nurse, a take-all-prisoners woman who for 22 years has run the Hotel Artemis, an Art Deco-looking building in 2028 Los Angeles whose penthouse serves as an emergency hospital for criminals who are “members.” Getting into the Hotel Artemis is harder than entering CIA headquarters, and you have to have a special microchip in your arm to pass through the tightly secured building. It is a very exclusive club indeed, and Foster’s Nurse doesn’t allow exceptions or rules to be broken.

A year after Warner Bros. rode female power all the way to the bank with the box office success of “Wonder Woman,” it is sending in Danny Ocean’s sister to steal away a big pay day at movie theaters with Village Roadshow’s “Ocean’s 8.”
This spinoff of Steven Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s” trilogy is expected to nab the No. 1 spot this weekend from the plummeting “Solo,” taking an opening weekend total of $35-40 million from 4,000 screens. WB is projecting slightly lower with $33-38 million and is reporting the budget at $70 million.
By comparison, “Ocean’s Eleven” was made on an $85 million budget and opened domestically to $38.1 million. While that figure is not an apples-to-apples comparison because “Eleven” was released in 2001, consider that the George Clooney-fronted heist classic went on to have incredible legs with a $183 million domestic total and $450 million made worldwide.

Riots rule the day in Hotel Artemis, which is set in a near-future Los Angeles that looks quite unsettling. It's a dangerous world where even criminals must seek a place of special refuge when medical care is required. Jodie Foster stars as The Nurse, who runs that place of special refuge - a secret, members-only hospital for criminals. In a new clip, we can observe an apparently routine encounter between The Nurse and a recently-admitted criminal (Charlie Day) that hints at the...

I’ll be honest, it wasn’t until a recent trip to the States that I paid attention to Hotel Artemis… It’s one of those films that looks like its flying under the radar here in the UK, which is surprising given how much this film looks like it will appeal to the same audience that loved the John Wick movies. In fact Hotel Artemis could, for all intents and purposes, be set in the same universe! Directed by Drew Pearce, the film stars Sterling K. Brown as a thief who steals from the wrong man…

"One night in the lives of ten unforgettable people..." Global Road has released another new trailer for the action film Hotel Artemis, arriving in theaters next week. This new trailer is a bit different than the other two we've seen - it's a retro trailer with grain, bad fades, and everything, introducing all 10 of the different characters rather than focusing on the plot. Set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, Jodie Foster plays "The Nurse", a nurse who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals known as "Hotel Artemis". The ensemble cast for this "stylish, high-octane action-thriller" includes (as seen in this trailer): Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, and Dave Bautista. I like when studios try something different with trailers, even if it's the cliche "retro" trailer, it's still cool to see them do something that isn't the same as always.

Global Road Entertainment has released a new red-band trailer for ‘Hotel Artemis‘, and it is insanely glorious. In case you are unaware, the film stars takes place in futuristic Los Angeles where a secret, members-only hospital caters to criminals. Run by Jodie Foster‘s “The Nurse”, all hell breaks loose when an object of great value enter’s it’s doors. While this film is certainly riding on the coattails of the ‘John Wick‘ franchise, it actually reminds me of ‘Smokin’ Aces‘ more than anything else. In terms of style, tone and the ensemble cast, the film seems to know exactly the type of film that it’s trying to be.
The ‘Hotel Artemis‘ marks the directorial debut of writer Drew Pierce (‘Iron Man 3‘), who is looks to launch a promising career in the director’s chair with the film. I’m really loving what this trailer has to offer,...

"I thought this place was a myth." Global Road Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for an action film titled Hotel Artemis, the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Drew Pearce who also wrote the script for this. Set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, Jodie Foster plays "The Nurse", a nurse who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals. This is similar to the hotel from the John Wick movies, but clearly much more about patching up and healing people than providing them with more services. The kick ass ensemble cast for this "stylish, high-octane action-thriller" includes Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, and Dave Bautista. This looks crazy good, with a seriously badass cast that's going to make it very fun to watch. Foster looks gnarly, but Bautista's lines are the best in the trailer. Here's the first official...

When criminals need to be patched up, where do they go? Director Drew Pearce answers that question in the first trailer for Hotel Artemis, which includes a high profile cast!
In Drew Pearce's short career, he has been known as the writer for such films as Iron Man 3, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, and the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 3. The latest movie he's written, Hotel Artemis, has brought him to a new facet of the filmmaking process, the director's chair. For his directorial debut, he's picked what looks to be a good one. Hotel Artemis includes an all-star cast of Hollywood greats like Sterling K. Brown, Jodie Foster, Charlie Day, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, and Dave Bautista.
What makes this movie so appealing is that it looks reminiscent of John Wick...just without John Wick.
