The role of the main character, Archie Bunting, is shared between father & son. Timothy West plays the old Archie Bunting looking back on his wartime days, while his son, Samuel, plays the young Archie of WW2.
As there was only one B-17 available, the shot of the bombers in formation was made using multiple exposures.
If you can follow the names of the main RAF and USAAF characters, you will see some of their names listed on the memorial at the end when Old Archie lays wreaths with Old Bromwen.
