For this week’s brand new spotlight piece, I wanted to cite an A-lister who is having one really good 2014, to say the least. It’s Reese Witherspoon, an Academy Award winning actress who only this year is finally solidifying her status not just as a star, but as a supremely talented actress as well. It’s high time too, as she’s given more top quality performances than a lot of people realize. From some of her early work to the performance that won her the Oscar, Witherspoon has become a deserving member of the A-list, though someone who doesn’t always get the credit that she truly deserves. Rory Kinnear might be gamblers’ top pick to take over the lead role in Doctor Who, but Kinnear told The Independent that he hasn’t been approached for the role and he isn’t particularly interested, having never watched the show.

Chi McBride is joining the cast of Hawaii Five-0, EW reports. McBride will play Swat Captain Lou Grover, a character from the original Five-o series.

Bravo is working on another adaptation for its next potential scripted pilot. After looking at turning Heathers, The Joneses and the Danish series Rita (so far, only Rita looks like it will film the pilot), the channel is developing a modern-day version of Charles Dickens‘ Bleak House.

Lisa Edelstein will appear in a multi-episode story arc on the upcoming season of Castle, according to TVLine. She’ll play a Federal Investigator who works with Beckett as she debates taking that Washington DC job.

There are a good number of films that stand out in the Paul Rudd cannon. “Overnight Delivery” might be at the top. But, Rudd has proven to be a silver screen favorite thanks to wide-ranging number of roles in tons of other films like “Clueless,” “Romeo + Juliet,” “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and “The 40 Year-Old Virgin,” to name just a small sampling. However, there are two films that still stand as Rudd-ophiles favorites.

And, when he sat down with MTV News during one of our MTV Firsts to talk about his latest film, “Wanderlust” (which also stars this Hollywood newbie Jennifer Aniston), he had some encouraging news for fans of his 2001 cult classic, “Wet Hot American Summer.”

Washington, Feb 2: Reese Witherspoon has revealed that she began questioning the choices she had made in her life in the months leading up to her 35th birthday last March.

The 'Overnight Delivery' actress, who has two children with first husband Ryan Phillippe, has stopped worrying since reaching the milestone age.

"Once I turned 35 I felt so much better but the anticipation leading up to it was miserable," Contactmusic quoted her as telling Britain's Glamour magazine.

"It was less, 'How do I look?' and more, 'What do I want to accomplish in life? Is this the career I love? Is this the legacy I want to leave.

Over the last two decades Paul Rudd's charm, charisma and ridiculousness have made him one of the leading men of mainstream comedy. Even when he's playing the straight man in movies like Role Models, he tickles our funny bones while his boy-next-door good looks make him comedy’s ideal main squeeze. Every few years, the corporate Hollywood "they" busts their collective ass to make someone Happen. Sometimes this works and that is how stars are created. Sometimes it doesn't and we have human "Where Are They Now?" billboards wandering around. And, at times, this is fairly tragic, particularly since it happens predominately to females. Not that actors are immune to the fame machine (sorry about how life's turned out, Paul Walker) but they don't usually get the hard push followed by the harder drop of the hands that force fed you running for the next blonde on the block.

To these ladies who've been chewed up and spit out and then left on the sidewalk to become one with the pavement, I salute you.

Sorry it's been two weeks since the last trailer round-up and poll. I was away. But here are the results of the last Trailer Park voting, in case you didn't see or expect as much: Sucker Punch blew the competition away with 45%. But Catfish has enough people curious to have done well with 21% and second place.

Even without the week off I came home to a whole bunch of trailers debuting this week. Likely because there's a new Julia Roberts movie opening one major theme among them is "bad romance," though not admittedly -- there's unfortunately no Lady Gaga playing over the spots for How Do You Know, Heartbreaker or Love and Other Drugs (or The Romantics, which I left out of the roundup, but you can read Monika's thoughts about it here). Ah, Ivy Miller and Wyatt Tripps have reunited at last! Bliss! Ever since I watched Overnight Delivery in the late '90s, I've wanted to see Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd work together in more films. The two have this awesome "I just can't help but be close to you ... against my better judgment" chemistry that makes even typical romcom fare seem fun, and dare I say, noteworthy.

I write this because their new movie, How Do You Know, is typical romcom territory. There is no grand adventure, wild delivery men, bare-assed baby hissy fits, or tears in cocoa this time around. It's just a girl trying to decide between two guys, as the newly released trailer shows. But luckily, with Reese and Paul, it still looks worth the time.

Let’s face it, Wake Up Ron Burgundy was not an adequate sequel to Anchorman, even despite the occasional belly laughs the re-edited (and largely cobbled together) cut of deleted and additional scenes from the original managed to command. But then again, it never aspired to be anything but a tongue-in-cheek re-edit to give fans more time with the Channel 5 News team, so what were we expecting really?

So, news that a real sequel, helmed by Adam McKay, and bringing the original gang of Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell and David Koechner was well and truly on the cards would have been heralded with choruses of “Neat-Oh!” throughout the world. But then, harsh mistress as she is, Fate robbed the whole world of that awesome possibility because of some piffling money worries. A bitter pill to swallow.

This was supposed to be a post for the second trailer of Dinner for Schmucks, starring Steve Carell and Paul Rudd (and even Zach Galifianakis). But then I watched the trailer, and not only was it underwhelming, but I was kind of appalled at all that talent wasted for a Jay Roach movie. Also, in nowhere in the trailer does Paul Rudd dance. What's the point of casting Paul Rudd if he's not dancing, people. It's like hiring Josh Holloway and asking him to keep his shirt on. Or casting Christina Hendricks in a burqa 'n' sandals movie. Why?

I’m a huge fan of 80’s teen movies and teen movies in general – yes I may not be the target demographic, but there’s something about the genre I love, and always will love. The advent of DVD means that there’s an abundance of teen movies now available to own, including some that should probably have never seen the light of day. But despite that, there’s still some teen movies that haven’t made the transition to the shiny disc format. So here’s a rundown of my Ten Teen Movies that haven’t made it to DVD – in fact I think some of these never even made it to retail VHS!!

Cristina Aguilera's big-screen Burlesque debut is already a pretty interesting mix. We've got the slight girl with the powerful pipes, plus Cher returning to Hollywood as a nightclub owner and Stanley Tucci as the man who turns Aguilera's small-town girl "from bumpkin to bombshell." (Please tell me she's living in a lonely world.) But now, in a pretty wild twist, The Hollywood Reporter posts that Kristen Bell is joining the action as her rival.

As the story goes, Aguilera's girl has "a big-town voice" and "finds love and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse's Cabaret." Bell enters the mix as Nikki, "the loose-cannon lead dancer and main attraction at the club who spirals out of control" when Aguilera steals the spotlight.

Now, there are a lot of women I could imagine battling Aguilera. At the top of the list would probably be Scarlett Johansson.

Back in 2000, a week after it was out, my roommate and I went to see Road Trip. It was to be the funny cap to a long day -- she had thrown me a daytime surprise party, and we rushed to the theater once everyone left for a little movie fun. At the time, Tom Green was still pretty popular, and it seemed like the right end to the day. But while everyone else giggled, I grew more and more incensed. I had seen this film before. But the first time around, it didn't have a weird guy tonguing a mouse -- it had a super-cute pair by the names of Ivy Miller and Wyatt Tripps. Road Trip was a barely disguised copy of Overnight Delivery, which had come out two years before.

Maybe if it was five or ten years after the other, I would've let it slide as some sort of tribute.

As the years progress, our tastes change. However, there is one thing that never fails to make me smile -- whether I'm watching it or just thinking about it: Paul Rudd dancing. The man is white dancing brilliance!

Skimming MTV, I spotted a little talk with David Wain, who says that he wants Paul Rudd to be his leading man in the stage production of Wet Hot American Summer that he's hoping to put together. Strangely enough (at least to my mind), he doesn't site Rudd's dancing, but rather says: "Paul Rudd is a great singer. I just need to find the right musical collaborators."

Wain, my dear, the voice means nothing if you get that man movin'.

Oh, Breckin Meyer, what happened to you? In the '90s, things were going well. You got a little Clueless, got mixed up in The Craft, led Lovebürger -- all sorts of successful teen fare. But then ... Road Trip got you on the wrong highway until you were suffocating in projects like Herbie and Garfield.

If it wasn't for his animated gigs, I don't know what would've happened to Meyer. But now Production Weekly says he's turned to scriptwriting -- penning the Harry Elfont and Deb Kaplan-created Superguys. They say: "think Ocean's 11 with idiots set at Comic-Con." Man, Con is hot right now. Anyway, this reunites Meyer with the duo who created Can't Hardly Wait. Could this mean something good? Maybe? Or am I just fooling myself with hope?
