This is Michael Cimino's biggest box-office flop. The film grossed less than thirty thousand dollars domestically on a thirty-one million dollar budget (and while this made the least money, Heaven's Gate, on the other hand, lost the most money).
The film was entered into the 1996 Cannes Film Festival.
According to Jon Seda, director Michael Cimino would frequently show up to set late and apparently under the influence of drugs. He described the production as troubled and the final product as mediocre. Nonetheless, he remains humbled by the chance to work with Cimino over thousands of others who auditioned for the role of Brandon "Blue" Monroe.
