The name of Martin Lawrence's character is not revealed until 50mins into the film.

Despite the fact that this was filmed in the standard spherical format, "Filmed in Panavision" is listed in the end credits.

This is Martin Lawrence and Giancarlo Esposito second movie together since they were in Spike Lee's 1989 hit movie, Do The Right Thing.

The final cookout scene features the song "C U When U Get There" by Coolio, who was a contestant on Fear Factor a few years later alongside the late great Kelly Preston, who starred as Tim Robbins' wife in the film. The celebrity Fear Factor episode came down to Coolio and Preston squaring off against each other in the final challenge, which Preston won while her husband John Travolta looked on, proving once and for all that fear is not a factor for her.
