I have been unable to find this movie on tape, however, it is truly a unique work. It is one of the most touching movies I have ever watched and really does having you crying many a time. It truly shows how bigotry, prejudice, and hate have no place in our society. I think this movie is absolutely wonderful and Ms. Plowright, as always, delivers an excellent performance. For someone that enjoys a good show of cultural relationships, especially in the Deep south during times of racial in balance this movie is an excellent portrayal of such relationships. It really does display some of the best and the worst characteristics that human nature has to offer.

Set in Atlanta, Georgia. This is probably one of my favorite TV movies. It's about a black family who is not very wealthy living near a very rich older white woman. Every day the young boy would walk to the school bus and the old white woman's dog would tug at the boys legs and this scared the boy badly. One day, while he and his father were out hunting for small animals, the boy takes the dog and captures him in one of the hunting boxes. Later that night it begins to rain and the dog causes the box to fall over and he drowns to death. The old woman's family is furious about this and orders the black family beat the boy for his wrong doing. When the father refuses calling it an accident the family leaves in a rage. The old white woman begins to hang out with the young black boy after realizing that her dog really was mean to the boy. They become one another's only friends. In the end, the boy has to move away because of such racism and hatred going on. He says goodbye to the woman and gives her his dog, and promises to come back to visit.
Truly one of the best, and saddest TV movies I've ever seen. Take a look next time it comes on Disney. You will be shedding a tear every moment!

I love this movie and really wish Disney would release it on DVD. How can we make that happen? It is a very good movie. No spoilers, I LOVE IT. Please release this movie on DVD so it will be shared with others.
Please release this movie, I have been trying to see this movie again without any luck, you can't even buy the DVD. What is the problem with Disney not willing to open this great movie to other young viewers. I don't even think that the reviews are been read because others have been asking and nothing has happened. Why waste people time if the reviews are never reviewed.

I have been searching for this movie for years and to no success have ever found it anywhere to be watched, why not? It is one of the greats and every time I search for On Promised land about 15 other movies pops up call called Promised Land so I had to search by names of actors and actresses that I remembered played in this movie not one time did this particular movie came up this is the oldest movie has been blackballed never to be released on television again if so why or at least can you sell the DVD? There are so many movies that should not be shared but... please release this movie to be shared with the world....
