While she is mostly known for her award-winning tenure in Once Upon A Time, the best Lana Parrilla movies and TV shows reveal an incredibly wide range that suits a whole host of genres. Born in New York in 1977, Lana Parrilla studied acting at LA's Beverly Hills Playhouse, following in the footsteps of her aunt, character actress Candice Azzara (who appeared in the likes of Caroline in the City and Who's the Boss?). Parrilla's career began in 1999 with movies like Very Mean Men and Spiders and the Upn sitcom Grown Ups.
However, while her earlier roles on the big screen didn't kick-start a prominent career in movies, she had a big break when it came to TV shows when she signed on to ABC's celebrated sitcom Spin City in 2000. From there she went on to appear in several short-lived shows, though despite having a run of less-than-stellar luck when it...

The new ABC comedy sitcom Shifting Gears, starring Tim Allen, will feature a 2 Broke Girls reunion for Kat Dennings. ABC's comedy slate is going through a bit of change. Even though Abbott Elementary season 4 is going strong, with a debut set for October 9, the network is losing The Conners which will be entering its seventh and final season. But the comedy block will be getting a boost from three veterans of the genre.
Deadline reports that Michelle Nader is the new showrunner of the multi-cam comedy Shifting Gears, taking over for writers and executive producers Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully following their exits in July. Nader, a veteran television writer and producer, previously worked with Dennings on 2 Broke Girls and the short-lived Hulu series Dollface. Production on the ABC show is set to begin in November.

In recent years there’s been a great deal of ink spilled on the topic of declining attention spans among America’s youth.
It’s tough to quantify or verify such a phenomenon, but if this trend is as real as its loudest alarmists say it is, then there are many possible causes:
Most folks with even a shred of self-awareness would concede that the constant siren song of social media and other smartphone-related diversions has at least somewhat diminished their ability to focus on a single task for an extended period of time.
(Photo by Files/Afp via Getty Images)
And while these temptations have (allegedly) had a negative impact on productivity in schools and offices, they’ve also impacted the entertainment industry in ways both subtle and obvious.

It's hard for fans who remember the original NBC airing of Friends to believe, but "The One Where The Show Turns Thirty" is almost here.
Friends was a ratings juggernaut from its 1994 premiere and ended its ten-year run with the fourth most-watched series finale in television history.
That would have been an impressive note for any show to go out on, but Friends went on to enjoy a charmed (and lucrative) afterlife in syndication for another decade before becoming a recent surprise hit with a whole new generation on Netflix.
So why haven't we seen another sitcom make a similar impact in the past thirty years?
Friends was a reflection of its specific cultural moment, which also laid the foundation for our current comedic landscape, and there hasn't been an equivalent upheaval since.
Friends Is a Victim Of Its Influence
If the show seems amusing but nothing special to indifferent viewers today,...

Gail Berman’s four-decade-plus career has taken her from Broadway to the big screen and back again, with stints as a studio chief and a new media entrepreneur in between.
“I’m your pivot girl,” says Berman, who last year received nominations for both a best picture Oscar (“Elvis”) and a comedy series Emmy (Netflix’s “Wednesday”). “Every five years, I have to do something else. It’s just my nature.”
Berman scored her first producing credit at the age of 23 when she and her former U. of Maryland classmate Susan R. Paramount+ premiered the werewolf horror series “Wolf Pack” back in January 2023, and TV Line reports tonight that the series has already been cancelled after just one season.
Sarah Michelle Gellar made her return to horror in the series.
TV Line reports, “Last summer’s dual Hollywood strikes were the final nail in Wolf Pack‘s coffin. According to sources, a potential second season would not have been ready for nearly two years after the conclusion of Season 1.”
“Wolf Pack,” written and produced by Jeff Davis, follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are changed forever when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature and drives it to attack a highway traffic jam beneath the burning hills.
Wounded in the chaos, the boy and girl are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two other teenagers who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire.

The actor was found unresponsive Saturday at around 4 p.m. in the hot tub at his Los Angeles home. First responding paramedics were unable to revive him. It’s unclear if his death was caused by drowning or cardiac arrest, but there were evidently no drugs found at the scene nor evidence of foul play. Perry had a long and storied history of substance abuse.
Born in Williamstown, Massachusetts on August 19, 1969, Perry was raised in Ottawa, Canada. His mother, Suzanne Morrison, was a journalist and press secretary to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. (His stepfather is “Dateline’s” Keith Morrison.) Perry moved to Los Angeles as a teenager to pursue an acting career. He made his television debut in 1979 on an episode of “240-Robert” and in the...

The actor was found unconscious late this afternoon at his L.A. home by first responders who were unable to revive him, law enforcement sources told Deadline.
Perry’s death is considered an ongoing investigation, we hear.
Throughout his career, Perry struggled with addiction, which he detailed in his memoir “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” published last year.
“I really lived life to its fullest and that got me in trouble from time to time,” he said in a US Weekly interview several years ago.
Perry made his television debut in 1979 on an episode of 240-Robert. He would go on to book roles in shows like Not Necessarily the News (1983), Charles in Charge (1985), Silver Spoons (1986), Just the Ten of Us (1988) and Highway to Heaven (1988). Paxton Whitehead, the prolific and acclaimed actor whose career stretched from 17 Broadway productions, a recurring role on the hit 1990s sitcom Mad About You and a memorable turn as a snooty professor who takes an instant disliking to Rodney Dangerfield’s crude self-made man in 1986’s Back to School, died June 16 at a hospital in Arlington, Va. With the numerous TV shows, it's difficult for people to remember or watch every series, especially the ones from decades ago, like the following 10, which are forgotten today. Before the advent of streaming, audiences only had to keep up with a handful of network TV and cable shows. Now, due to the various streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV Plus, Max, Amazon Prime and Peacock, nearly every television comedy and drama in history is accessible to everyone with a smart TV or device.
Many shows have been critical successes and huge hits when they aired, earning all kinds of accolades and awards for being the best programs on TV. Popular series have delighted audiences nationwide with interesting and complicated characters, surprising story twists, hysterical moments and memorable catchphrases. Several continue to leave a lasting impression or relate to younger viewers discovering these gems for the first time. Yet 10 shows...

The CW has been busy north of the border.
The network has picked up The Spencer Sisters, a Canadian drama starring Caroline in the City star Lea Thompson and Superman & Lois’ Stacey Farber, for its fall lineup.
It is the latest Canadian series that it has acquired, this time from eOne, as the Nexstar-owned company’s scripted strategy becomes a little clearer.
The Spencer Sisters, which aired its first 10-part earlier this year on CTV (see trailer below), follows a mother and daughter duo who team up to start a private detective agency. It pairs mystery novelist Victoria Spencer (Thompson) and her daughter Darby Spencer (Farber) who are mistaken as sisters as they tackle puzzling cases.

Carol Locatell was born on December 13, 1940 – a date that happens to have been a Friday the 13th. So it seems very fitting that when she embarked on an acting career, her role in the 1985 slasher Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (watch it Here) would turn out to become the role she was best known for. Locatell delivered a hilarious performance in that film, making the foul-mouthed Ethel Hubbard someone fans have been having fun watching for nearly forty years now. Sadly, Locatell is no longer with us. She passed away recently at the age of 82. Ron Sloan, who played Ethel’s dimwitted son Junior in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, broke the news of her passing on social media last night.
Sloan wrote,
Dearest friends, fans, and Horror family,
With great sadness, it breaks my heart to announce that my Friday the 13th Part 5 Mom, (Ethel Hubbard) Carol Locatell has passed away.

Caroline Manzo of The Real Housewives of New Jersey has never been a woman to be messed with, and it seems that Brandi Glanville found that out quickly after picking on the Og. Caroline was the straight shooter from the Garden State who often stood up to Teresa Giudice. Fans were thrilled to hear Caroline had agreed to come back to star on Rhugt, but she didn't stick around long.
Bravo viewers first met Caroline during Rhonj season 1, as she starred alongside Dina Manzo, Teresa Giudice, Danielle Staub, and Jacqueline Laurita. Viewers quickly figured out that Caroline stood by her morals, and that her family was everything to her. Viewers enjoyed watching the Italian-American family on the small screen, as Caroline often bought a sense of trust and honesty to the show. Even though Jacqueline Laurita of The Real Housewives of New Jersey is no longer on the show, the former housewife is speaking out against Melissa Gorga. Jacqueline left the franchise back in 2017 after a few personalities became too much for her. With her husband, Chris, Jacqueline then relocated to Las Vegas.
Jacqueline married into the Manzo family and first starred on the show with her two sisters-in-law, Caroline and Dina Manzo. Jacqueline was a fan favorite partly due to her outspoken daughter, Ashlee Holmes, who went up against Danielle Staub, and her friendship with fellow original housewife Teresa Giudice. For years, the two women were best friends, but after seven seasons, they had a massive falling out, leaving Jacqueline feeling betrayed. Since stepping back, the Rhonj star has been spending time with her children and making sure to give back.

Some shows, such as the enormously successful series The White Lotus, seem designed to be remembered. However, while many shows become part of the canon, there are just as many that, for one reason or another, simply get forgotten by the masses. Sometimes, this is because they were canceled before they could get off the ground, while in other cases they just lacked that special element which would guarantee long-term success.
The users of Reddit have been particularly outspoken in talking about forgotten series that they still love. Even the most under-the-radar series maintain their devoted core of fans.

With all of the remakes going on at the moment, why not bring back the original Clock Tower and give it a modern makeover? While that doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon, we’re getting the next best thing with a tribute game in Little Sewing Machine’s upcoming fairy tale horror title, Bye Sweet Caroline .
Chris Darril, creator and director of Remothered series (now head of Little Sewing Machine) shared an image of a prototype from the upcoming game on Twitter (which you can see below). The image in question pays tribute to the original Clock Tower, with the game’s protagonist being confronted by a Scissorman lookalike. Bye Sweet Caroline appear to be using a hand-drawn art style.
And in case you were wondering if this is all coincidental, the copyright information on the bottom of the image does have Clock Tower in it, with Sunsoft being the owners.

Meet your new favorite musical. When Kimberly Akimbo premiered at the Atlantic Theater Company last December, it was a breath of fresh air, an intimate show about teenage misfits and the unreliable adults in their world that balanced hilarious comedy with aching poignancy and quirks unfailingly grounded in emotional truth. Transferring intact to Broadway, this small-scale charmer has not only retained but enriched its distinctive qualities, sweeping in as a burst of invigorating originality in a sea of repurposed movies, jukebox compilations and revivals.
Ok, so strictly speaking this is not an original work but a reinvention of David Lindsay-Abaire’s 2001 play about a lonely teenager suffering from a rare fast-aging disease like progeria, which makes her age at four and a half times the normal rate. She’s a 16-year-old — the average life expectancy of her disease — with the body of a septuagenarian.

Iceland Airwaves is a triple threat, combining a city break with thrilling live music and dramatic scenery. Set within Iceland’s capital of Reykjavík against a backdrop of frigid waters and snow-capped mountains, it’s a great chance to catch new talent before it breaks through elsewhere. Like many showcase festivals, Airwaves is held across multiple venues, all within 20 minutes walk of one another. Any potential commuting hassle therefore gives way to unadulterated fun. The music doesn’t start until late evening, which leaves ample time to explore the stark countryside, or visit one of the picturesque lagoons. And, if you’re lucky enough to stumble between the bustling venues at the right moment, you might just catch a glimpse of the otherworldly Northern Lights.

The Legacies finale marked the on-screen conclusion of The Vampire Diaries' universe, but with the success of releases like AMC's Interview with the Vampire proving the continued potential of the supernatural genre, fans may still one day see its return. The Vampire Diaries had many enticing elements that helped maintain its popularity, most notably its characters and their relationships - the most unique of which was that of Stefan and Caroline.
Going from acquaintances to best friends to lovers, Stefan and Caroline have one of the more interesting and developed relationship arcs within the series, especially given how they helped one another grow as individuals. Even today, fan tweets stand as a testament to their charming (and debated) relationship.
