The name of the Batman spoof Die Fledermaus is frequently misheard by viewers (who watch the un-subtitled version and thus have not seen the name spelled out) as "Deflator Mouse" and is listed as such in some Internet discussions. Die Fledermaus is an Austrian opera by Johann Strauss, where one character briefly wears a bat costume. "Die" means "The" and "Fledermaus" means "Bat". Technically this German word for bat means "flying mouse" or "mouse of the sky", as do the names of this animal in several other European languages. E.g. Russian "letuchaya muish", and Spanish "murciélago" (from an archaic dialect, of which the modern form would be "ratón del cielo"). Some German-speaking cultures have changed the animal name of "Fledermaus" to "Fledertiere" ("flying animal") to be more accurate, as bats are not closely related to mice.
American Maid, Arthur, and The Tick stop Chairface Chippendale from writing his name across the moon. In the rest of the episodes, the moon says "CHA" on it.
A fourth season was planned before Fox canceled the series. Some of the fourth season's developments would involve Arthur and Tick moving in with Carmelita, the Terror would find the Fountain of Youth, and that Barry (from The Tick vs. the Tick (1994)) was revealed to be Carmelita's brother, who was originally destined to wear Arthur's moth suit.
Townsend Coleman (Tick), Rob Paulsen (Arthur) and Cam Clarke (Die Fledermaus) also voiced three of the four "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Michelangelo was voiced by Coleman, Raphael by Paulsen and Leonardo by Clarke. Before becoming animated shows, both "The Tick" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" comic series were intended as spoofs. "The Tick" was parodying superhero comics in general, while "TMNT" focused on The 1980's era of Marvel Comics "Daredevil".
A conspiracy theory has circulated that The Tick was thought up by a sick kid with a blood disease that he got from a tick. While being sick in bed, the kid would imagine that he was a superhero, the Idea Men were the action figures he was stuck playing with, Elseed was based on the flowers that he could see from his window, Chairface Chippendale is just a chair from his room, Arthur is the boy's divorced father and American Maid is the boy's mother.
