The show was canceled in 1999. Shawn and Marlon Wayans went on to make Scary Movie a year later. At the climax of Scary Movie, Shawn's character seems to break the fourth wall by emotionally stating "The Wayan's Brothers was a good ass show! And we didn't even get a final episode!"
In the booth at the front of Pops Diner, there's a picture of actor John Witherspoon and David Letterman. Witherspoon and Letterman were long time best friends for over 45 years from their days doing stand-up in LA. Letterman was Witherspoon's son J.D.'s godfather and Witherspoon was also a frequent guest on Letterman's talk shows throughout the 80s and 90s. Letterman also spoke at Witherspoon's funeral.
Throughout the entire series the brother's mother has been only mentioned and never seen on the show.
Pops (John Witherspoon) and Dee (Anna Maria Horsford) also play married couple Mr and Mrs Jones in the Friday movies. Craig's (Ice Cubes) parents.
Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and John Witherspoon are the only cast members to appear in every episode of the series.
