Definitely a "Fatal Attraction" redux. Aside from that, it's really not bad. It seems to be a fad for former child stars to break type by doing a topless scene. (A trend I'd like to encourage!) Anyway, Molly Ringwald does a creditable job in the villainess role. I gave it a 6. (Would have been a 5 except for Ringwald's topless scene.)

The only reason I decided to watch this film is that I enjoy Molly Ringwald and certain thrillers like Basic Instinct. This feels more like a cheaply made Lifetime movie that drags along and doesn't fully pull you into the story.

A medical student (Molly Ringwald), obsessed with her school's star baseball player (Patrick McGaw), pursues him and finally manages to get him to spend the weekend with her. However, when he soon returns to his girlfriend, her anger at his "betrayal" causes her to go over the edge and places both her ex-lover's and his girlfriend's lives in danger.

Ringwald looks stunning and portrays a crazy scorned woman fine, but the cheapness of it all and stupid choices made by certain characters doesn't make it very believable. I also wonder how many times Ringwald's character smoked a cigarette in the film, you could probably make a drinking game out of it. Not to mention the annoying way she smokes them. A few nice sex scenes but other than that I see no reason to have this in your collection. The guy who plays the character she is obsessing over looks like he forgot how to act half the time. He's no Micheal Douglas that's for sure.

Malicious is a very poor film, reminiscent of the old B-Movies, only not as good. It appears to be a straight rip-off of Fatal Attraction, but omitting any pretension of a plot. Don't get me wrong, I like Molly Ringwald, she is good in most of her films and she tries hard in this one, but isn't given a chance. There is only so much that can be done with so little plot, which isn't helped by the character of Doug Gordon being so thin. If you like Ringwald, watch this movie, otherwise look elsewhere for a good thriller.

Teen sensation Molly Ringwald's fall from grace was swifter and more disastrous than Sky Lab, due in part to B-flicks like this one. It's a "Fatal Attraction" retread which casts the now-sexed up Ringwald as a jilted woman who stalks her man down, with John Vernon in a ridiculous supporting role as a detective who gets involved (he snoops around like Hercule Poirot). Actually, the film begins well enough but gets increasingly more preposterous as things progress. Unreleased dud from Republic Pictures went straight to tape, with the little hoopla it received being Ringwald's scant nudity (on that, one video critic quipped, "It's like spying on sis in the shower."). Another Hollywood fairy tale in reverse. * from ****

It's FATAL ATTRACTION among the college set. Patrick McGaw is a star college baseball player being scouted by the pro teams. After a one-night stand with Molly Ringwald, she starts stalking him, which his girlfriend, Sarah Lassez, doesn't care for. Mimi Kuzyk plays McGaw's mom, John Vernon the cop who tells him that Ringwald has a restraining order against him.

Ringwald plays the maniac okay, but there's no real dazzle in her performance, possible because McGaw never really brings any sense of outrage to the role; he's just trying to get through the events until he gets that big contract. In the entire cast, only Vernon manages anything on the mark, listening to McGaw without offering anything that he's just doing his job and doesn't believe or disbelieve anything people say. Ian Corson directs efficiently, without raising any real sense of madness among the characters. It's a desultory potboiler, bringing no sense that anyone was interested in more than a paycheck.

I was startled that this film has been ripped so mercilessly apart here, because I've always found it quite engaging. Years after it was released another filmmaker liked it enough to put huge chunks of it in "Swim Fan," which doesn't hold a candle to this original. I found Molly Ringwald quite chilling and felt that Patrick McGaw, playing a true innocent, broke my heart. Indeed, I think that McGaw almost singlehandedly SAVES this movie, because at least SOME of us care about him and the mess he ends up in after having hot (but oh so foolish) sex in Ringwald's car with her. Alas, she's a master manipulator and knows precisely which buttons to press to get what she wants, and later when McGaw's character suddenly gets a spine and begins to fight back, it becomes a race to see if he and his sweet girlfriend will survive Ringwald's lethal lunacy. I jumped at the chance to replace my VHS copy of this with the DVD and have never regretted it.

Doug Gordon (Patrick McGaw) is the star college baseball player with girlfriend Laura (Sarah Lassez). He's taken with mysterious student Melissa Nelson (Molly Ringwald) at a party. She propositions him. They have a sexual affair. He starts brushing her off which only angers her.

This is a B-movie version of 'Fatal Attraction'. I didn't like Michael Douglas' character in that movie. I like this idiot even less. Patrick McGaw has limited charisma. Molly Ringwald is probably the only interesting part in this movie who is acting circles around McGaw. It's also a little sad to see her reduced to a lesser erotic B-movie. It may be worthwhile to see Molly Ringwald for some people but there's not much reason for anybody else.

We all know that movies like this get tagged the same way. Stalker woman in it is called a psycho B. Sure enough film experts and psychiatrists study of the female lead played by Molly ringwald, and develop the idea of personality disorder. Mind you, this is based on a fictitious character. But let's face it, this is how those psychiatrists and film experts and men in general feel about a woman in that position. But guess what? If this movie were remade, and Molly ringwald starred opposite Denzel Washington, the woman would not be called a psychobee. The man would get the blame, and he would be called a fornicator. That's Hollywood. That's the minions.

It doesn't help having well known actors, when they are instructed badly. That's the case in this quite awful movie.

Story is OK, but the probabilities are none or scarce, and the shortcuts made make some of it hilarious.

Molly Ringwald, John Vernon Mimi Kuzyk and Patrick McGaw all are doing their best in vain.

4/10 - and then I'm kind!

Obviously, a rehash of "Fatal Attraction" (exactly the same plot), but I liked it.

Former sweetheart Molly Ringwald is rather impressive as a deranged (but very charismatic) sociopath. Excellent performance.

The good girl was less impressive, but cute nevertheless.

The protagonist is the one I had a problem with. Seriously, as a female, I don't see the attraction. A dumb jock with no substance and a stupid goatee - jeez, I fail to understand what anyone would see in him.

I'm surprised that the movie doesn't have a larger male fan base, though (given that both lead females have naked scenes).

By the way, I can't help but notice that they tend to cast kinky-haired girls as antagonists. Think "Fatal Attraction" and "Swimfan", for instance. Coincidence?

It's very hit and miss. On all fronts. Acting (the same actors make some scenes work, some not so much), writing (fails to go beyond genre clichés), direction (particularly when it comes to intelligence of behavior of the characters)... If it missed less often it would be a decent genre piece. It might still be an alright guilty pleasure for some, though.

Even though it has arguably the most misplaced use of music ever. It almost feels comical. But even if intended to be, it wouldn't have been funny enough to actually be funny. :>

And the sound is pretty bad.

And I really liked Sarah Lassez. :>

Malicious is basically a teen rip off of the far superior Fatal Attraction so the story here doesn't need to be explained. The main problem with this ( besides the rip off) is that some of the scenes and lines are complete shot for shot " exact" copies. The other problem is the support acts Mcgaw , Lassez are pretty much inept actors who don't inspire any interest. I found it hard to buy Ringwalds ( who plays the stalker) interest in Mcgaw as he was charmless. The girlfriend is also uninteresting. The main redeeming feature was the casting of Ringwald as the psycho. Although going against cast-type she's actually pretty good ( and sexy). Unfortunately the script is a bit silly ( especially the second half ) and has big plot holes and credibility issues. Nevertheless Ringwald kind of holds your. Interest as the creepy stalker come psycho. Watchable- just.

While MALICIOUS is of the tribe of FATAL ATTRACTION, I think other commentators here have overlooked its obvious progenitor. The scenario of the final section -- the psycho becomes the girlfriend's roommate under an assumed name -- is a direct lift from PLAY "MISTY" FOR ME. In this version, though, there are two huge improbabilities: A). Melissa is a notorious fugitive of wealthy background who did in her own dad -- it is incredible that Laura has never seen her picture; and B.) when our hero learns Melissa is in Laura's apartment, instead of calling the police immediately, he goes hurling across San Francisco on a motorcycle, unarmed, in the rain. I hope I never need him to rescue me.

(1995) Malicious PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER

"Leave Her To Heaven",(1947)"Possessed" starring Van Heflin, "Play Misty For Me", "Fatal Attraction","Swimfan","Sleeping with the Enemy" "Obsession", "The Other Woman", "The Crush", "Fear" perhaps "Misery" and then add "Malicious" to this list of movies that involves girls/ women becoming obsessed over their male counterparts with the only difference in this case is that it has actress Molly Ringwald becoming the stalker after an one nighter. Molly plays Melissa who becomes infatuated with baseball player Doug (Patrick McGaw) who won't take "no" for an answer, nor will she allow anything to get in the way, even if it involves murder. And we even get to know more about her toward the end which is not much of a surprise. I must admit, back in the heydays when actress Molly Ringwald was starring in many popular teen movies such as "Sixteen Candles", "the Breakfast Club" and "Pretty In Pink" to name a few, many of my peers were wondering if she'll ever have a nude scene in a movie since there may have been a time when she did have a no-nudity clause on her contract. And I guess when her movie career wasn't as good as much as she wanted it to be, she started to agree to do different movie projects such as this simplistic stalking movie, and then voila- her breasts are shown. Just when everyone think she's sticking to those teenage innocent roles, she does one that is not exactly what people are accustomed to seeing her, which is alright if you've never seen a stalking movie before, or if you still have the hots for actress Molly Ringwald. And because internet has become much more prevalent these days, viewers don't even need to watch the entire movie anymore to see their favorite celebrities naked anymore because it is there on the internet for the entire world to see, why would anyone need to see the movie anymore. It's definitely not what it used to be. And although this movie is well made, I've pretty much seen this done before but with different actresses. I mean, do I really have to see this again regardless who plays the 'stalker' role.

I watched this movie, and really was not all that impressed. The main idea of the movie really seemed to be to watch Molly Ringwald get naked. Other than that, there was nothing redeemable about this movie. Go rent "Fatal Attraction" instead, you will at least get a plot.

I knew nothing about this movie before I saw it, but it didn't take long for me to think of "Fatal Attraction", which was quite disturbing but better executed.

Yes, this is kind of scary, but it's not a classic movie or anything like that. In fact, it borders on comedy, mainly early.

I don't recall any outstanding performances, but the quality of this movie depends a lot on Molly Ringwald. She's quite good-looking and delivers a fine performance when she is acting normal. She's just a little too normal at times, though. I am reminded of someone's comment about Anthony Hopkins in "Silence of the Lambs". After all those weirdos, we see this calm man also in a cage. And THAT'S scary. So one possible interpretation is that Ringwald is too calm and therefore scary because you know she should be more disturbing. And it could also be mediocre acting. One thing is certain, though. When she looks at Doug or anyone else disapprovingly, she is quite intimidating.

This isn't excessively violent but there is some blood, and one really disturbing scene. I don't recommend this as family viewing.

Laura is pretty but I found the scene where she got out of bed in just a t-shirt and underwear disappointing.

Not a great movie, but an opportunity to see the cute Molly Ringwald not so cute.
