Amanda Bynes had always been a natural performer. She began acting as a child, appearing in several TV commercials, demonstratively oohing and ahhing over the Cut N' Style Barbie or snacking on Buncha Crunch to a variation of the "Addams Family" theme music. At school, she appeared in the musicals "Annie," "The Sound of Music," and "The Music Man." She was bitten by the theater bug early on.
Bynes experienced her big break in 1996 when she joined the cast of the hit sketch comedy series "All That" on Nickelodeon. She was 10. "All That" ran for a whopping 11 seasons from 1994 to 2005 and proved to be a stamping ground for up-and-coming talents, serving sort-of as a junior version of "Saturday Night Live." Keenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Jamie Lynn Spears, and Nick Cannon also broke out thanks to the popularity of "All That." Bynes was a regular cast member for the show's third through sixth seasons,...

The single marks the first offering from Sasami’s forthcoming third studio album, Blood on the Silver Screen, out March 7.
“This album is all about learning and respecting the craft of pop songwriting, about relenting to illogical passion, obsession, and guiltless pleasure,” Sasami shared in a statement.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Netflix's Kaos.
The soundtrack of Kaos mixes together contemporary genres with classical music, mirroring the dark comedic, contemporary take on Ancient Greek myths. Kaos is a hilarious, raunchy story that follows three humans who learn theyre destined to fulfill a prophecy that will bring down the Greek gods. The unhinged story thrives partly because it incorporates all the darkest and most twisted parts of Greek mythology but approaches them with a sense of humor. The narrator, Prometheus, helps set the sardonic tone for the series. However, another aspect of the show that contributes to its success is the soundtrack.
The episodes of the Netflix comedy show are packed with songs that shape the tone for the audience. The music that plays with each character in Kaos also reflects their personality. Scenes with Dionysus include eclectic music popular in the LGBTQ+ community. Zeus leans...

A year after hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, and only a few weeks after Kendrick Lamar’s feud with Drake culminated in a chart-topping track where he calls Drake a “colonizer,” the hottest topic on the rap internet right now is a white kid from St. Louis rapping over vintage-sounding Atlanta rap beats. Ian, whose debut mixtape, Valedictorian, caps off a run of viral hits that have quickly caught the attention and ire of rap fans online, leans heavily into the dissonance between his look and his sound. In the video...

Amanda Bynes had a prolific career on Nickelodeon in the late 90s, appearing in shows like Figure It Out and Rugrats. Despite notable roles in films like What A Girl Wants, her last appearance was in Easy A in 2010, portraying a Christian antagonist. Bynes showed her versatility by voice acting in animated films like Robots and taking on a comedic role in Hairspray as Penny Lou Pingleton.
As a child actor in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Amanda Bynes was among the most recognizable and popular actors in the world. Bynes only has 20 official credits to her name, but some of those credits account for more than 100 episodes of television. In the early days of her career, Bynes got her big break thanks to Nickelodeon, so she's likely recognizable to those who came of age around the turn of the century for her prolific work for the network, including commercials and award show appearances.

As you read this, Nickelodeon is probably whipping up thousands of gallons of its trademark green slime in some top-secret laboratory ahead of the 2023 Kids’ Choice Awards, which airs on Saturday, March 4 at the child-friendly hour of 7/6c. In fact, the KCAs is one of the few Nickelodeon shows where the green stuff still flows freely, and no celebrity is safe from the neon-colored goop. As Vox recaps, slime made its first appearance on Nickelodeon in 1981 when the show rebroadcast the Canadian sketch comedy series You Can’t Do That on Television. But it really took off in the ‘90s, thanks to Nickelodeon game shows like Double Dare and Figure It Out. Recipes for slime vary, with green jello, food dye, and baby shampoo commonly listed as ingredients. In a 2011 interview with Gourmet, former Double Dare host Marc Summers ...

In making a sequel to their 2020 Disney+ hit, Co-writer/director Julia Hart and her co-writer husband Jordan Horowitz have evidently completely departed from the novel sequel, which was titled Love, Stargirl. In that, Stargirl leaves Mica and moves to Pennsylvania, whereas here she (again played by Grace VaderWaal) and her mother Ana (Judy Greer) move to Hollywood when Ana gets a job designing costumes for a movie. On arrival, Stargirl meets Evan (Elijah Richardson) who, after hearing her sing, asks Stargirl to be in the ‘sizzle reel’ that he’s written and his brother Terrell (Tyrel Jackson Williams) is directing as a pitch for the film they want to make. While working on the film, Stargirl also meets Roxy (Uma Thurman), a musician who put out one album 25 years ago and her cantankerous neighbour Mr Mitchell (Judd Hirsch), who used to be a producer.

Disney+ has released the trailer for ‘Hollywood Stargirl,’ which will debut on the streaming service on June 3.
The sequel to the 2020 Disney+ film about free spirit Stargirl Caraway (Grace VanderWaal), a silver-voiced teenager whose simple acts of kindness work magic in the lives of others. The upcoming film follows Stargirl’s journey out of Mica, Arizona and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibilities. When her mother Ana (Judy Greer) is hired as the costume designer for a movie, they relocate to L.A., where Stargirl quickly becomes involved with an eclectic assortment of characters. They include aspiring filmmaking brothers Evan (Elijah Richardson) and Terrell (Tyrel Jackson Williams); Mr. Mitchell (Judd Hirsch), one of Stargirl’s neighbours; and Roxanne Martel (Uma Thurman), a musician Stargirl admires and encounters on her journey.
Returning as Stargirl, VanderWaal performs the original song “Figure It Out” she wrote for the film. Julia Hart returns to direct.

Kanye West’s Twitter binge continued unabated through Sunday, as he added albums he’s produced from Teyana Taylor, Pusha T and Nas to a schedule that already included albums from himself and a collaboration with Kid Cudi — all of which will somehow be released in May and June, he says. West was known or reported to be working with many of these artists in recent months, and although he’s worked with Nas multiple times in the past 15-odd years — most recently both guested on French Montana’s “Figure It Out,” and West contributed music to Nas’ 2016 film “The Land” — but a new album was news.
“I’m hand-produced all the albums I tweeted about. Been chopping samples from the sunken place,” he wrote, referencing a hypnotic state from the film “Get Out.” He then sent several tweets about how much he loves driving a Tesla car.
The tally so far?...

So you’re wading through piles of slasher films from the ‘80s, keen on discovering a lost gem far removed from the normal gang in the woods or high school sis-boom-bah stab and gab. You’re thinking maybe a different setting will yield a fresh take, already tired tropes blurring your vision and making the distinction between a hockey mask and a fencing one harder by the day. Well…have you tried the hospital yet? Most folks are terrified of the antiseptic halls and robotic empathy doled out by uncaring staff. (Yes, yes, they also save lives, I know. I’m trying to set a mood, dammit.) And if you do decide to enter the medical field, I strongly suggest you pay a visit to Hospital Massacre (1981), Israeli King of Schlock Boaz Davidson’s wild attempt at a horror comedy, where some of the humor is even intentional.

A more well-rounded portrait of Flynn emerges as he travels back to 1969 to sabotage the American lunar landing.
While still blowing away nameless people in the past, Flynn actually helps out a couple of his loved ones on Timeless Season 1 Episode 8.
The urge to save loved ones is something to which both Lucy and Wyatt could relate.
It's obvious from the look on his face that Maria is someone special to Flynn. And it's easy to forgive Flynn for wanting to save his half-brother Gabriel so that his mother wouldn't be so sad in future years.
But Flynn's plan to change the whole direction of the Cold War, well, not so much. Callously killing a guidance officer for his ID card and a plumber for his uniform isn't so simple to dismiss as mere collateral damage,

Doug Liman is gearing up to film “Edge of Tomorrow 2,” which will reteam the director with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. It was previously reported that a sequel was underway after the 2014 film exceeded expectations and received positive reviews from critics.
While details are under wraps for “Edge of Tomorrow 2,” Liman told Collider that the sequel will actually be a prequel.
“That is the only sequel that I’m considering doing, and it’s because first of all the story is so amazing—much better than the original film, and I loved and loved the original film—and second of all, it’s a sequel that’s a prequel,” he stated.

This weekend’s openers did not look like standouts on paper. But two star vehicles, Tyler Perry’s “Boo! A Madea Halloween” (Lionsgate) and Tom Cruise’s “Jack Reacher: Never Look Back” (Paramount), both exceeded their expected $20 million openings. The reason? They gave moviegoers, who may be feeling a tad rattled during this tempestuous election season, something familiar and safe.
Add in the middling “Ouija: Origin of Evil” (Universal) and the flop “Keeping Up With the Joneses” (20th Century Fox) and the unusually heavy release schedule (before the must-to-avoid Halloween weekend) reversed recent sliding gross totals. Temporary? We’ll see. But it’s better news for sure.
The Top Ten
1. Boo! A Madea Halloween (Lionsgate) New – Cinemascore: A; Metacritic: 34; Est. budget: $20 million

Back in 2001, we talked to the rising young star on the set of Nickelodeon's 'The Amanda Show.' What went wrong?
It's hard to believe but October 16 marks 15 years since The Amanda Show -- starring a then-13-year-old Amanda Bynes -- first premiered on Nickelodeon.
Airing from 1999 to 2002, the All That spin-off show turned Bynes, now 28, into a star.
But clearly, it hasn't all been smooth sailing from there. In the last month, the troubled actress has made daily headlines with erratic behavior, explosive allegations and – on October 10 – a return to being held at a psychiatric treatment facility, potentially for up to a year.
Video: Amanda Bynes' Psych Hold Extended to 2 Weeks, Hit 'Breaking Point' With Abuse Allegations
Both Bynes' mental health struggles and trouble with the law are well-documented, but when did it all start going south for the troubled child star?
Let's take a look back at a timeline of her troubles...

Green monkeys! Orange iguanas! If these unnaturally occurring animal-color combinations don’t send chills down your spine, you weren’t a child of the ‘90s.
Funny or Die has posted a fake trailer for Legends of the Hidden Temple: The Movie, a would-be action flick that finds a gruff former contestant drinking away his sorrows as he contemplates returning (a la Lost) into the cruel hands of Olmec the Terrifying. “You think you’re going to be all right, just ’cause you have a guide,” muses the faded former Red Jaguar as memories of a distant Kirk Fogg appear.

It's game over for Figure It Out on Nickelodeon. The competition series has been cancelled according to host Jeff Sutphen.
Responding to a fan's question about the future of the series, Sutphen wrote, "unless your secret talent is bringing canceled shows back we will not be shooting any more episodes of #Fio #sadface"
Hosted by Summer Sanders, the Figure It Out game show ran for four seasons between 1997 and 2000. The series was revived in June 2012 with Sutphen and aired for two more seasons. The finale episode aired on July 16th of this year.
Though Figure It Out is over, Sutphen has started his own mock talk show, The Garage Show with Jeff Sutphen. The most recent episode features visits by fellow Nickelodeon hosts Marc Summers, Kirk Fogg and Phil Moore.

It's been more than a decade since the 1990s ended, yet the Internet can't seem to go a day without a reminder of the neon slap bracelets that may have been banned from your school.

Shakespeare’s classic comedy is given a contemporary spin in Joss Whedon’s film, “Much Ado About Nothing”. Shot in just 12 days (and using the original text), the story of sparring lovers Beatrice and Benedick offers a dark, sexy and occasionally absurd view of the intricate game that is love.
Joss Whedon, along with stars Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Nathan Fillion, and Clark Gregg sat down recently at an La press conference to talk about the film, as well as their experiences in the Whedonverse. I was there, and I must say that things got pretty silly, as you can expect. It was, by far, the best (and most entertaining) press conference that I’ve attended to date. Check it out below.

Call it an early Father's Day gift. Jada Pinkett Smith posted the cutest of photos to her Facebook page on Thursday showing husband Will Smith holding the couple's son Jaden when he was just a wee baby. "Before Will and Jaden starred in Ae, they starred in...Daddy Trying to Figure It Out," she wrote, making reference to their upcoming movie, After Earth. "I have been blessed with one of the best baby daddies in the world." Jada proceeded to pass on some words of wisdom, adding, "To the young ones: Just because he or she is fine, doesn't mean they'll make a good mom or dad. At 56 years old, La Toya Jackson says she might finally be ready to be a mom. She is already an aunt to several of her famous siblings' children -- including brother Michael's kids, Prince, Paris and Blanket -- but has been considering adoption recently to create a family of her own.
In this clip from "Life With La Toya," the middle Jackson sibling has just left an adoption agency, accompanied by her best friend Kathy Hilton. To help La Toya decide if she's truly ready to be a mother, Kathy decides to bring her friend a special gift.
Inside a large, pink gift bag is something La Toya never expected: a mechanical baby. The mechanical baby comes with a set of keys that fit into a panel on its back. Each of the electronic keys represents an action, such as feeding, diaper changes and burping.

Steadfast fans of The Flaming Lips are used to Wayne Coyne's oddball proclivities, but it's a little alarming to see his particularly bonkers brand seeping into the mainstream.
First the Oklahomia acid rockers starred in a Hyundai Super Bowl commercial and now their frizzy-haired frontman is appearing in a new Virgin Mobile commercial commanding you to "retrain your brain" with what looks like a Coyne-dictated hodgepodge of surreal "wait, what?" imagery: a scuba diver hugging a shark, a giant cat filming a small man, a table full of lobsters.
What does it all mean? Will we be switching to Virgin Mobile before we know it? What does any of it have to do with The Flaming Lips' new album The Terror (out April 2), if anything? Figure it out for yourself below.

Warning: The following contains major spoilers from this week’s episode of Beauty and the Beast.
Matters of love… and death… loomed large this week on The CW’s Beauty and the Beast. Starting with the sadder latter, when Darius got into a bit of a pickle with some thugs he owed money to, Vincent beasted out and leaped into action, all in the name of saving Catherine’s sister Heather from being whacked as a witness to the illegal dealings. Alas, in the course of doing so, Vincent got Darius killed — the first innocent to die by his hands.

A film that started out being called Kristy and then changed to Satanic has been updated again to Random, and we have your first look at star Ashley Greene in full-blown Goth mode.
Lucas Till co-stars opposite Haley Bennett and Greene (Twilight, The Apparition). Olly Blackburn (Donkey Punch) helms, with Anthony Jaswinski penning the script. Production on the film that will be distributed by Dimension Films later this year is currently under way in New Orleans.
Blackburn recently told EW that we'll see a whole new side of Greene in Random: "She plays Violet, the worst of the lot." Violet is the sociopathic leaser of a gang that targets a student left alone on a college campus over a holiday break. "I told them I'd be willing to get all the piercings [required for the role]," said Greene, who did intense research to play Violet. But in the end they used fakes so Greene added,...

After a two-week hiatus, Criminal Minds returned with a brilliant brain teaser of an episode. "All That Remains" represented Thomas Gibson's first directing gig for this series and, given the quality of the episode, I hope he'll have many more to come.
The team was called in to investigate the disappearance of two sisters, which occurred on the anniversary of the date that their mother also disappeared. The common denominator was their father, who only reported them missing a day and a half after they were gone.
Since the same weird delay happened when their mother disappeared, the team took a hard look at him. In fact, the local police were sure he had murdered his wife and daughters, pretty much saying so straight from the start. Once the body of Katie (his daughter) was found, the case became a homicide.
There was so much that was compelling about this story.

New York — J.R. Ewing wouldn't hesitate to cheat his fellow man. He also famously cheated death.
In the second-season finale of "Dallas" back in 1980, he was shot by an unknown assailant in his office and left for dead. But he recovered nicely, and the cliffhanger question that gripped the nation (Who shot J.R.?) was answered that November in an episode seen by 80 million viewers.
This time, J.R. won't get off so easy. The second season of TNT's rebooted "Dallas" poses an even more dramatic question: Who killed J.R.?
Meanwhile, viewers will have to reckon with the loss of arguably TV's greatest villain, and bid farewell to the actor who portrayed him so indelibly and also cheated death for years. Larry Hagman, who died of cancer at 81 the day after Thanksgiving, was diagnosed in 1992 with cirrhosis of the liver from a life of heavy drinking and, three years later,...

There’s nothing new under the sun — which is just the way Millennials like it.
We’re a generation obsessed with our own recent past, as befits the children of Boomers. Our influence on the entertainment industry is also increasing as we grow older. That’s probably why 2012 was the year that a collective nostalgia for pop culture from the ’90s and even the early ’00s hit in full force. Sure, the year also featured its share of projects inspired by/cribbing from the ’80s or even earlier — we learned it by watching you, Generation X! — but generally speaking, a...

Nicki Minaj must have felt left out from the diva crew, because a video released Tuesday on TMZ revealed the singer completely bashing Mariah Carey during an American Idol audition in Charlotte, North Carolina. Damn, where's Nick Cannon at a time like this? Mariah just kept that voice safe and sat back listening to the comments that probably gave the crew a headache.
Well, maybe not the one that was secretly taping the incident.
In the video you can hear Nicki yelling: "This is a joke! This is a joke! This is a joke!...So every time you patronize me, I'mma take it back, and if you've got a f*cking problem, handle it. I told them I'm not f*ckin' putting up with her f*cking highness over there. Figure it the f*ck out. Figure it out. I'm not gonna sit here every f*cking minute to have...

Plus, the five-time medalist tells HollywoodLife.com how fans send instant messages of support to Team U.S.A. through YouTube & Facebook! Like many of you, I grew up watching Summer Sanders help Nickelodeon's brightest '90s stars Figure It Out, so I couldn't pass up the chance to get her thoughts on Nick's recently-laughed reboot. Though the former Olympian watches the new version with her kids — their reaction is actually kind of awesome — she says she misses the original cast, which boasted such classic Nick staples as Danny Tamberelli and Lori Beth Denberg. (And don't we all?) But my slime-covered nostalgia aside, Summer is currently supporting Duracell's Virtual Stadium, a genius new project that allows anyone addicted to the 2012 London Olympic Games — aka everybody — to send personal support messages to U.S. competitors using Facebook and YouTube. While the trailer we debuted last month focused on the Turtles’ origin story, the latest 45-second spot emphasizes their ninja qualities. The gang gets a chance to show off their weaponry, martial-arts skills, and mad ups while fighting some intriguing new villains, including menacingly red-eyed robots, psychedelic-looking little blobs,...

It’s official: The Legend continues! Nickelodeon has picked up a second season of the animated adventure series The Legend of Korra, EW has learned. After averaging 3.8 million viewers for Season 1, Book 1, which concluded June 23, the Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel is receiving a second-season order of 26 episodes that presumably will be divided into two parts called Books 3 and 4, bringing the total number of episodes to 52.
The series is already set to return in 2013 with the premiere of Season 1, Book 2 (which consists of 14 previously ordered episodes), as 17-year-old chosen one Korra (voiced by Janet Varney) has now become a fully realized Avatar.
