Tears for Electra

18 year old Elektra stands helplessly by while her beloved father's ruthless newly engaged chauffeur succeeds in seducing her attractive mother. When dear papa discovers them in flagarante delicto his outrage causes a fatal heart attack. The young girl, miserable with her father's loss and betrayal, is soon consumed with hatred for the pair and gradually comes to realize that she will have no peace until she avenges her father. To destroy them, she devotes herself to ruin them by seducing her mother's lover, now her stepfather. In doing so, she risks destroying not only them, but also herself and the boy who loves her. This steamy tale of implacable revenge is uniformly well-acted by all of the principles and sustains a highly charged emotional pitch throughout. It's a fascinating film.

I love this movie. It includes an all star cast. These are some of the best actors of Greece. The story is dramatic. It is a story of love, betrayal and revenge. It is loosely based on the ancient play Electra because it has all of those elements. This is one of many movies that should be re-released and shown with English subtitles. I recommend it highly to persons that love foreign films, especially dramas and especially this one because it offers an excellent cast. All four protagonists are extremely famous and great actors. A must see for anyone who loves tragedies, dramatics, great acting and just plain old style love stories. This offers it all.
