"Boop! You have Booped your last Boop!"

Sometimes Helen Kane is listed as Betty Boop; sometimes Mae Questel (who was the voice of Betty Boop and later Olive Oyl in countless cartoons). What is known for sure is that Bela Lugosi plays the wax figure of Dracula that comes to life in a wax museum. Bela gets Betty Boop in the clinch, bends over her menacingly and sensually at the same time, and utters: "Boop! You have Booped your last boop!" This was a delight for fans of Bela, many of whom only knew him as a horror actor, and were not aware of his keen sense of humor. Also, in the wax museum, Eddie Borden's wax figure comes to life, and tells the audience about the various stars such as Clara Bow. A real time capsule.

Betty Boop Made Flesh and Blood

Betty Boop made her second and final live action appearance (the Production Code probably saw to that) in the agreeable form of Bonny Poe in this weird novelty short in which wax museum sculptures of film stars come to life and Bela Lugosi himself puts in an appearance to ravish the tasty Miss Boop; although since the Count was supposed to require the blood of virgins to sustain him Miss Boop was probably not a wise choice.

    2 Lugosi shorts

    Hollywood on Parade #8 (1933)

    ** (out of 4)

Short film has Eddie Borden walking through a wax museum full of Hollywood legends. This is the famous short that has Bela Lugosi playing Dracula and telling Betty Boop "You have booped your last boop." This was my first time seeing the full short even though I've seen the Lugosi segment countless times. Needless to say, that's certainly the highlight.

    Intimate Portraits: Bela Lugosi (1931)

    *** 1/2 (out of 4)

Infamous short film has Dorothy West interviewing Bela Lugosi shortly after the success of Dracula. This is a very funny short/interview that of course ends with Lugosi scaring the hell out of West as we see her running away from him.
