- [last lines]
- Gia Carangi: [voice-over; narrating from beyond the grave] Life and death, energy and peace. If I stop today, it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I made and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, and above.
- Linda: I have a boyfriend.
- Gia Carangi: [shrugs] So?
- Linda: [incredulous] SO?
- Gia Carangi: Yeah, so?
- Linda: So... I have to go.
- Gia Carangi: I have to go... I have to go... where the fuck does everybody go when they have to go?
- Gia Carangi: You know what I think? I think there's a reason for everything. And I think that there's a plan for everyone. And I think that God has a big plan for me. Just not in this life.
- Gia Carangi: Are you nervous?
- T.J.: Yeah.
- Gia Carangi: Am I making you nervous?
- T.J.: Yeah.
- Gia Carangi: Well, good, that's the idea. You scare the shit out of people so they can't see how scared you are.
- T.J.: Sex was really easy. There was sex everywhere. It didn't really mean too much. Love, love was the hard thing to find. Even if you were looking for it, which not too many people were. And even if you found it, which not too many people did, even if it was right there in front of you. No; how could you see it with all the sex in the way?
- Gia Carangi: I'd tell them that you don't have to be anybody. Because I'd know that being somebody doesn't make you anybody anyway.
- Billy: Hi, I'm Billy. You're very pretty. I'll bet you're a model.
- Gia Carangi: Why? Do I look stupid?
- Linda: She was like a puppy. She was like... love me, love me, love me, love me... and I did. I did. I did right away. She was my lover. The only person I really loved.
- Francesco: I know, I know. Life is so disappointing. Here you are. You have arrived. You are here. This is your moment. What do you have? You have pain. You have everything. What do you have? You have nothing. Everything is right, or everything is wrong. It's disappointing, it's confusing. This is life. What can we do?
- Gia Carangi: People keep going away from me, that hurts.
- Francesco: Work. You have a gift, use it. Life, life will be there later. When you have worked, and you have lived, and you know who you are, life is easy. Work. It's the only answer I know.
- Gia Carangi: I should have been a rock star. But I can't sing.
- Francesco: Work now. You'll live later, hm?
- Gia Carangi: Hmm, hmm. You'd say anything to get that shot.
- Francesco: Hmm, yeah. In this case I am saying the truth.
- Gia Carangi: I could learn photography. That could be something to want. I could photograph children. I could have my own children. I would give them yellow roses. And if they got too loud, I would just put them some place quiet. Put them in the oven. And I would kiss them every day, and tell them you don't have to be anybody, because I would know that being somebody doesn't make you anybody anyway.
- Wilhemina Cooper: You will always be somebody to me.
- Gia Carangi: I have an appointment.
- Wilhemina's Receptionist: Of course you do.
- Gia Carangi: 11 o'clock, Gia Marie Carangi
- Wilhemina's Receptionist: "G"... what?
- [carves name on receptionist's desk]
- Gia Carangi: G... I... A, "Gia" just fuck the rest of it, call me Gia, do you think you can remember that... honey? Yeah? Cool, now tell the bitch I'm here.
- Gia Carangi: You look so pretty.
- Stephanie: Thank you.
- Gia Carangi: I love you.
- Stephanie: I know, you love everyone.
- Gia Carangi: Dear book, this is another day in my life. A life is like a book. A book is like a box. A box has six sides. Inside and outside, so, how do you get to what's inside? How do you get what's inside, out? Once upon a time, there lived a very pretty girl, who lived in a beautiful box, and everybody loved her.
- Girl at Group Therapy: Wait a minute. What am I supposed to feel here? Sorry for you because you're beautiful? Because you made ten thousand a minute doing fuckin' nothing? "Oh it was so hard, so terrible, they treated me so bad." Listen girl, you had a free ride. And you fuckin' blew it. And me? I'm some kid from Ohio, reading fashion magazines, looking at your picture and thinking I'm supposed to look like that. And going fucking crazy because I don't. Because nobody told me it was a lie. Because the magazine doesn't come with a label that says, "Caution: This is a lie. Nobody looks like this." Not even you.
- Gia Carangi: Where are you going?
- Linda: You don't have any clothes on.
- Gia Carangi: Don't change the subject.
- Kathleen Carangi: Know that old joke, how can you tell when a junkie's lying? Her lips are moving? It's not funny.
- Gia Carangi: Where's my knife? Who took my fucking knife? What do I look like, fucking terrorist? Is this funny? What the fuck is WRONG with you people? Where the fuck- get the fuck away from me! GET AWAY! WHERE IS MY KNIFE? God, you can't... you can't do that! You don't take somebody's knife when they need it!
- Gia Carangi: It's not about you. It's not you that they're looking at. It's not about you. I'm on top of that. I understand that.
- Wilhemina Cooper: Oh, honey that's good, I'm so glad about that.
- Gia Carangi: Because, if you let it be about you, then you're screwed, you know? So you have to stay separate from what's happening and you have to be somewhere else. But I don't know where that somewhere else is, you know? Or how to do that.
- Wilhemina Cooper: Honey, you can do whatever you want right now.
- Gia Carangi: Yeah, but what is it that I want? What do I want?
- Gia Carangi: Honey, what is it? Is it about today? I did one line. One lousy line, and that's it.
- Linda: What about yesterday? And the day before, and the day before that?
- Gia Carangi: Nothing.
- Linda: I don't believe you.
- [Gia moves to kiss Linda, who turns away]
- Gia Carangi: Oh, is that it? Your're just jealous! You're just jealous because you don't want anyone to know about us! You don't want it to get around that you and me... you are with a model! You don't want it to be known that you're fucking a model! Go ahead and say it, I'm fucking a model!
- [shouts]
- Gia Carangi: I'm fucking a model!
- Gia Carangi: Look, this was a free trip to New York. If I had known you were looking for Marcia fucking Brady, I woulda stayed home.
- Gia Carangi: I have to go back to work! I know what you're going to say but I need the money because I cannot live like this. I cannot live like this. And I cannot live without you.
- Linda: [after Gia kicks the window, shattering it] FUCK! What the fuck?
- Gia Carangi: [chuckling] I like, KICKED Spiderman's ass!
- T.J.: Have you ever had sex with a man before?
- Gia Carangi: Yeah, once.
- T.J.: And?
- Gia Carangi: And... I could have done that with a German Shepard.
- Gia Carangi: I met somebody, someone I really like.
- Wilhemina Cooper: Good! Good for you. Take a deep breath darling. You are in for the ride of your life.
- Tony: With a face like that, she doesn't need a name.
- Gia Carangi: Actually, Tony, my face is a little higher.
- Gia Carangi: Go see, go see, go see. I aint good at this. And even if you are good at this, what exactly are you good at?
- Maurice: She hated to be photographed. You had to run after her and tie her down. And you had to get past all the junk in her hair. But she was special.
- Model #1 (voice): Does this dress make my ass look fat?
- Model #2 (voice): Honey, your ass IS fat!
- Model #3 (voice): And I'm not standing next to her fat ass!
