Good anti-drug movie
The first thing that quite blew my mind was Jolie's performance. Maybe because i only associate her with cheesy flat actions or Lara Croft , which are not ... that good movies, but because of that i was surprised of how good her acting here is. From the crazy rebel-like start, to the mental unstable behaviour that pops up later on... It's a biopic movie, and afaik some things are not exactly true, it seems to be true to the spirit of the events. They managed to deliver the feeling at fullest.
The only negative i can say about this movie is the cinematography. Most of the times the cinematography is ok or even good. It's quite chaotic at times, but that actually fits the scenes, mood and topic perfectly. Even the weird angles are perfectly fine here. Buuuuuut the ugly repetitive shots (repetitive either with slightly altered camera angle, or slightly altered movements) are supid. I hate when they use this "trick" , it never looks good. They just stay cheap. Luckily - only 2-3 scenes have that, so it's not a big deal.
Good movie, good but tragic story, and the best Jolie performance i have seen. Which gives me the though of checking out other movies with her.
Give Ms. Jolie a decent script.... and watch out.....
A must see film
What happens when the prettiest girl of all grows up?
Angelina Jolie was excellent as Gia. Her profanity, nudity and lesbian love scenes scorch the screen. Ranking among the best on film. Also in this eye opener is Elizabeth Mitchell, Mercedes Ruehl and Faye Dunaway.
With all the violence, nudity and profanity; can not believe this is rated R instead of X. But I am not complaining. This is a tragic story about a complicated life. A very interesting bio.
Unforgettable

- TriviaAngelina Jolie said about her character Gia: "When she's free and just being herself, she's unbelievable. That's the tragedy of her story. You think, 'God, she didn't need drugs. She was a drug.'"
- GoofsWhen young Gia writes in her journal, she's right-handed. But older Gia is a lefty.

[last lines]
Gia Carangi: [voice-over; narrating from beyond the grave] Life and death, energy and peace. If I stop today, it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I made and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, and above.
- Crazy creditsOpening disclaimer: Gia Marie Carangi was born in Philadelphia in 1960. In the early eighties she became a legend in the fashion industry. Her story is told here in the words of the people who knew her and the words of her own journal.
- Alternate versionsThere is an Unrated/extended version available. Linda & Gia's sex scenes are longer and more explicit. In the scene where Gia gives Linda hamburgers in the kitchen, Gia straddles Linda in the chair, and says, "Dinner is served!".
