Peter Fedorenko wrote a script for the film but it was turned down and writing duties were instead handed over to Neal Marshall Stevens, under the latter's alias of Benjamin Carr. Fedorenko has since alleged that Stevens, along with co-producer Charles Band, stole his ideas for the film.
