We're taking Marvel's Luke Cage one episode at a time, pointing out the Marvel comics references as we go. First up: Moment Of Truth...
Luke Cage is back! In his own show! And so are our Marvel-Netflix episode notes where we’ll do a bit of commentary and reference-spotting for each episode of the series. Feel free to read along as you watch too, but please don’t spoil future episodes for anyone in the comments!
This first episode spends a lot of time placing Luke in Harlem, allowing us to get a feel for the man and his friends and enemies. You may know Luke Cage from his appearance in the previous Netflix series, Jessica Jones, but if you don’t then rest assured you get all you need to know in this episode: he’s a good guy with bulletproof skin.
Reference-wise, there’s a...

The gloves are firmly off (were they ever really on?) in this latest batch of images for Marvel’s Luke Cage, showcasing Mike Colter’s Hero for Hire cleaning up the streets of Harlem ahead of the show’s hotly-anticipated premiere on September 30.
First spotted by Agent of Marvel, these pics run the gamut, showcasing both our hulking hero in action, choking up thugs in broad daylight, to a shot of Mahershala Ali (House of Cards) as Cottonmouth, who will stand as one of the chief antagonists going into Luke Cage season 1.
Following up on its spectacular cover reveal, SFX has also dropped a pair of stills for Marvel’s imminent series (via Cbm), all of which are included in the gallery above.
Joining Colter on the streets of Harlem are Simone Missick as Mercedes “Misty” Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Theo Rossi as Shades,...

How much sex is actually in Fifty Shades of Grey? A recent Washington Post article placed the actual runtime of "actual sex and sexual-related activity" at 14 minutes and 17 seconds out of the movie's 125-minute runtime. Fun trivia fact. But it also led us to the question, "How does that fit in with the pantheon of sexy movies?" That is to say, of all the movies that are ostensibly sex-focused in the history of films (and sex), how many of them actually devote large portions of their runtime to Nsfw moments? With a subscription to nude-scene compiling web site Mr. Skin,...

Does the name Anastasia Steele mean anything to you? If not, ask your girlfriends. "Ana" is the heroine in Fifty Shades of Grey, an erotic novel that started as fan fiction by British writer E.L. James that's become a huge (if not covert) hit among American women - many of whom find out about the blush-worthy book from each other. Largely sold as an e-book, the title has garnered a massive following without even being widely available in stores. Currently No. 1 on the New York Times digital bestseller list - along with the rest of trilogy at no. 2 and no.

If you ask iconic New York City graffiti artist Phade (better known as Shirt King Phade from the legendary Shirt Kingz) about the current state of hip-hop, he'd more than likely tell you it's alive and breathing and resides in the Bronx, New York.
Whether you agree or disagree, Phade has been around the culture for decades and just like any other passionate hip hop fan is entitled to his opinion. But the difference between Phade and your average fan is Phade has lived the life of a rapper. And his crew, the Shirt Kingz, are his clique.
For those who may not be aware, Phade and the almighty Shirt Kingz carved a name for themselves in hip hop history by hooking up some of the '80s biggest acts with customized clothing. From LL Cool J to Bbd to Biz Markie to Jay-z, you weren't considered...
