I am wondering if this film still exists. There is another review from 2004 but that does not indicate whether the reviewer has actually seen this film.I have seen the trailer, which is all the BFI logs in their archive. So it may be one of those films that only now exist by virtue of their trailer. The main acts in this film would appear to be Harry Tate,Nat Gonella,Teddy Brown Sam Browne and Mrs Jack Hylton and Her Band.A real mixture of music hall and dance bands both of which were very popular in the 1930s.It is possible that parts do exist in other variety films as these films were often cannibalised for later revue films.Let us hope so as too many British films of this era are forever lost to us.
"Variety Parade" is simply a filmed record of British variety (vaudeville) acts of the 1930s. As such it gives a fascinating and nostalgic glimpse, not only of the performers, but of a way of life and style of entertainment from a byegone era.
