Pop singer and DJ Chloe Jane sat down to explain her musical style and her goals for her career in her new uInterview.
A DJ, singer and social media star, Jane grew up in Ibiza, Spain, where she started to dance at six years old and play piano at nine. As a child, she spent her summers watching DJs perform, and at age 12 realized her dream to be one. She became a resident DJ at the disco Amnesia in 2017.
Jane described the elements that went into her new single. “My new song ‘Keep Holding On (Set Me Free)’ is a really, really anthemic dance-pop song,” she told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “I wrote it here in L.A. – I’m in L.A. right now – with my friend Zach. It’s a dance-pop banger that I perform live and DJ in the clubs. I wrote this song because I love...

Jimin of BTS is back — sort of. While the global star is still in the midst of serving his compulsory time in the South Korean military, he recently released his second solo project, a summery, sunny effort titled Muse.
In addition to recording a second full album before heading to the military, Jimin prepared something extra special for Army by making sure to pre-record a live performance of the album’s focus track, “Who,” for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Watch it below, and read on to dig into five highlights from the confident performance.
The Mic Is On
For anyone who has been following BTS for any period of time, live performances being truly live should come as no surprise — but Jimin’s voice sounded especially clear during this performance. As a member of BTS’ vocal line, Jimin tends to take responsibility for parts in the higher vocal range; when on his own,...

Twice were the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday night. The K-pop girl group took over the studio stage with a performance of “Set Me Free,” a track from their new mini-album Ready To Be.
Before Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu were even visible, the audience was already erupting in screams and applause. The close quarters didn’t stop the idols from making a splash, and their complex choreography is impressive even on-camera; we can only imagine how it looks in person. Watch Twice perform “Set Me Free” on Fallon and stream Ready To Be below.
Twice will embark on their “Ready To Be” tour next month, performing 17 shows across 14 cities around the world. Marked as “Part 1” of the tour with future dates promised, the “Ready To Be” tour will begin in Seoul before they make their grand return to the...

Much has been said about K-pop over the years and much has been misunderstood about the genre too. Naysayers chalk up K-pop acts to pale imitations of Western artists, while the uninitiated disparage the grandiose production as derivative or cliché.

Exclusive: Patrick J. Adams (Suits) and Karine Vanasse (Cardinal) have been cast as the leads in an English-language adaptation of time travel drama Plan B for Canada’s CBC.
Adapted from the Radio-Canada French-language drama created by Jean-François Asselin and Jacques Drolet and set in Montreal, Plan B is billed as high-concept, gripping and intimate psychological drama about a man on a desperate and relentless quest to save his relationship – and by extension, his whole world.
Adams plays Philip, who discovers how to go back in time, giving him the chance to save his relationship with love of his life Evelyn (Vanasse), his law firm and his dysfunctional family. But he soon realizes that even the smallest choice has repercussions — as uncontrollable as they are unexpected — on his life and the lives of others.

Parasite is a film about families as much as it is about class resentment. As avatars of capitalism, the Parks and the Kims’ codependence sheds light on its systemic mutual toxicity. Yet just as compelling as the parasitic relationships in these families—and what they reveal about the greedy instincts that have been socially programmed into our psyches— is how the distinct nature of their intra-familial dynamics also speak to the larger social forces they exist within. In this light, director Bong Joon-ho is asking us to consider the extent to which capitalism itself cleaves or fortifies the bonds of familial love—suggesting that the greater the class resentment, the stronger the bond.
And strong are the Kim family ties indeed. Their scruffy and clamorous energy invokes a kinship that’s weathered its fair share of hardships, and whose resilience functions as a suit of armor against a ruthless and obscenely unequal social landscape.

Leela James is one of the few southern soul singers who can still achieve a hit today. Her most recent example, “Don’t Want You Back,” is an exercise in classic form — a handsome, raspy “good riddance” with a guitar that studiously recreates the sound of Hi Records. But the window-shaking drums updated that style enough to make it a Number One radio record.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the best TV theme song for a current show that aired in 2016?
Alan Sepinwall (@sepinwall), HitFix
If we’re talking pre-existing theme songs of shows that aired in 2016, then the obvious choice for me is “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” whose funky ’70s cop show riff often provides the biggest joy I get out of my viewing week, especially when paired with all those great visuals (Gina dancing, Charles injuring himself). In terms of theme songs brand new to this year, I go with one that I actually had to make an effort to watch with each episode: “Luke Cage.” Another ’70s throwback, it perfectly sets the mood for everything that follows,...

Many filmmakers who transition to television describe the switch as a simple one, usually using a phrase to the effect of, “It’s just a 10-hour movie.” They pretend — and I do mean pretend — that the only difference between what they made for the cinema and what they’re doing for television is the literal length of time they have with the characters.
This, however, is a lie; a lie often innocently told to toss aside a question with a much more complex answer, but still a lie. For the truth is, TV seasons aren’t just longer movies. They’re not novels, either (another popular, but only slightly more accurate simile). They’re TV shows, and they’re designed that way… that is, until “The Get Down.”

What first strikes you is the length.

In a mysterious Tweet yesterday, UK electronic trio Nero seem to have teased an upcoming four track Ep. The group released their sophomore album Between II Worlds last fall to critical acclaim, coming four years after their self-titled debut, so the idea of new material in such a short time is an exciting prospect.
The cryptic message the group shared on social media appears to allude to the tracklist of a four track Ep. “Different Story,” “Set Me Free,” “Still Going,” and “Just Us” are listed in the Tweet, following by the words “coming soon.” While the band doesn’t explicitly state that these are song names, it seems likely that they could be just that.

Diplo hasn’t found himself in the electronic music community’s good graces of late, but at least he can still poke fun at himself. The ever-prolific “Set Me Free” producer has released announced this year’s Mad Decent Block Party tour dates via a trailer in which he’s played by Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek.
While the choice of Van Der Beek makes for a head scratcher considering that the actor looks nothing like Diplo and hasn’t been relevant in ages, his tongue-in-cheek portrayal earns the latter some respect points. During the whimsical day-in-the-life scenarios, members of his team are depicted as resenting him behind his back.
After M.I.A. spoke out last year on Diplo’s controlling behavior during their relationship in 2004, he didn’t do himself any favors by calling Edm “a really lame culture” in a recent Billboard interview. At this point,...

Dyro‘s made a name for himself as one of the most respected artists in electro house, and the title track from his new Ep sees him as deserving of such accolades as ever.
On “Set Me Free,” the DJ/producer has collaborated with fellow Dutchman Loopers to add a measure of wonk to the production. After all, the track blends Dyro’s masterful production style with the bass house elements that have found themselves an increasingly prevalent component of mainstream electronic music. The metallic buzz of each reverberant wobble complements the anthemic vocals to an unexpected degree, and each part of the arrangement rings out with a masterful crispness.
As far as the rest of the Set me Free Ep is concerned, Dyro fans can stream or download it here. In the meantime, listen to the lead single of the Ep above and tell us what you think by...

Edm funnyman Dillon Francis and Dutch boy wonder Martin Garrix dropped an outrageous video today for their recent collab, “Set Me Free,” delivering a crazy visual accompaniment to the track filled with strange animations fit for an Adult Swim bumper.
“Set Me Free” is a crazy banger on its own musical merits, featuring the best qualities of both producers, and the new music video serves as the perfect backdrop for the party anthem.
The video opens within a computer screen, centring on a crazy fan page for Francis and Garrix that apparently actually exists. From there, things just get crazier as the two producers come to life and pop out of the computer screen to get the party started.
After that, the world is simply one big house party as every character that passes through the video dances uncontrollably. The whole concept just gets totally weird, complete with surreal imagery...

Additionally, the mass media also contributed to the fact, with their headlines stressing, during the previous days, the presence of celebrities in the Blue Dragon Awards. Lastly, and as usually, since the particular ones are considered more objective, the awards were spread among a plethora of films.

Bass music tastemaker and occasional provocateur Diplo has been on something of a releasing spree lately. Last week he dropped a MØ collaboration that failed to live up to what the two delivered on Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s “Lean On” – but this week’s Liz collaboration, “Set Me Free,” has turned out to be significantly more palatable.
There are unmistakeable sound design similarities between this track and “Too Original,” which Diplo released through his Major Lazer project. Bouncy, kazoo-like synths aside, though, Liz’ invigorating vocals and an upbeat rave piano melody make for an inviting exploration of the Diplo sound, which leans more towards Edm than hip-hop or bass music.
Considering that Diplo has been exploring a wider stylistic range recently – as evidenced by his overwhelmingly housey Sleepy Tom collaboration – it stands to reason that fans can expect more tracks like “Set Me Free” from him in the months to follow.

(Here's someone literally begging to be taken to church...) In Kim Tae-yong's debut film Set Me Free (original Korean title Geo-in), he deals with the memories he has about one of the darkest moments in his own childhood. His parents were both alcoholic and most of the time unemployed, and he was sent to a foster family who took care of many young foster children. That in itself worked out fine, but there was a catch: it was meant to be a temporary solution. As the kids became adolescents, so did the day approach when they were deemed too old to stay with the foster family, and were sent back home. This prospect loomed like a sword over all of the older children, who often...

Move over Diplo, Dillon Francis has a new best friend, and his name is Martin Garrix. Seriously, these guys seem to be attached at the hip lately. From their new single Set Me Free, which is on Francis’ new album, to that recent Facebook interview they did, Francis and Garrix are Edm’s newest Bff duo.
Now, they seem to have taken things a bit further, as the two recently went on a lovely date in Amsterdam. Ok, not really, but they did sit down with Beatport while they were there to do a very amusing and often hilarious interview. These two are endlessly entertaining and their charisma and chemistry is hard to resist, as you’ll see in the video below.
Though brief, they talk collaborating on Set Me Free, the first time they met, how they would help each other on Tinder, and more. Check it out below...

DJ Hanzel, DJ Rich As Fuck, Drunk Chef, Rave Dad, Diplo’s Bff….whichever alias you choose to call Dillon Francis by, you can’t deny that the DJ is currently one of the fastest rising stars in Edm. Admittedly, we’ve already heard the majority of the album over the past few weeks, as Francis has gifted us several of the songs already, but still, getting to hear it in full is great as now we finally know what’s in store for us come the end of the month.

With Dillon Francis‘ upcoming album, Money Sucks, Friends Rule, just around the corner (it drops on October 28th), the hype machine continues to press on. Over the past couple of months, the Edm jokester has given us almost half of the disc, with tracks like When We Were Young, Make It Bounce, Can’t Take It and more all finding their way onto the internet. As with most of what I’ve heard from the upcoming album,...
