Contrary to what is implied in this film, 'The Longest day' (1962) wasn't broadcast on French TV until November 10th 1976. Oddly enough, this screening was so popular it caused a power shortage in some areas of France (very similar to those regularly endured by the married couple of the film ) and its second part was broadcast again a few days later.
