Despite it's mislead title(The Definite Reason Why Men Are Dogs), this film captures the life of black faithful men and showing that all men aren't perfect but women are just as much as dogs as the rest of us. It shows insight of how woman will try to change you, deceive you, and seduce you. For once in the world of entertainment, men weren't shown up to be the villains in a black relationship. Which makes it hard to believe this was written by a black woman. I also liked the concept of seeing small interview clips on black men and troubles they had in love affairs.
I'll be honest, it isn't absolutely funny but it still is a comedy and it had me laughing every now and again. If you are watching this for a strong comedy then you might not like it all that much so don't expect too much when watching this.

I just saw the movie and it doesn't actually justify the way men act. but it brings more of an understanding. its kind of funny. The stories are real. Its harder for people to let their guard down and allow the feeling of love to over power them, because there scared to take the risk. People need to open their eyes to the obvious sometimes, love can blind you. People should just be open with what they want in the beginning of the relationship... Don't assume. Makes you want to have a sit down and conversation with your other half to make sure you guys are on the same page you may not actually believe things actually happen like that. but it is 2005!!
This is a film full of passion and true to life experiences. It has a great cast and tells the story of relationships from all angles. This is truly a good film told through the lens and pen of Jeff Byrd. Richard T. Jones, Eric George and Treach do fabulous jobs as men in real, but troubled relationships and their search to find fullfillment. Sometimes that what you seek is not exactly that what you want. If you haven't seen this movie and get a chance to I hope you take it. Because you too will see a piece of your life in the lives of these three characters.
Book of Love: The Definitive Reason Why Men Are Dogs.
Actors: Robin Givens, Anthony 'Treach' Criss, Mari Morrow, Angelle Brooks, Richard T.Jones, Taraji P. Henson.
Book of Love delivers humor along with the mysteries of unrequited love and relationships gone bad. The film's story line focuses on main characters Jay, Will and Ben -- three men living, dating and loving in Los Angeles in the 90's -- who struggle with heartbreak and insecurity as a result of failed relationships. The three characters' stories unfold through sessions with their therapist – sessions that are often as comedic as they are insightful. Book of Love features an all-star ensemble cast including Robin Givens (Head of State and Boomerang), Richard T. Jones (The Wood and Twisted), Salli Richardson Whitfield (Antwone Fisher and Biker Boyz), Mari Morrow (National Security and How To Be A Player), and Loretta Devine (Crash and Women Thou Art Loosed).
