Paramount+ crime-thriller Bargain, Prime Video’s absurdist comedy I’m a Virgo and Greek infertility dramedy Babython were among the awards series winners at last week’s Seriencamp in Germany.

Bargain took home the festival’s Critics Choice Award, while Babython was named best in show at the Co-Production Pitch. Prime Video dark coming-of-age comedy I’m a Virgo won the Official Competition Award.

Korean drama Bargain, for Paramount+ and Tving, stars Jun Jong-seo (Money Heist: Korea) and Jin Seon-kyu (Extreme Job) and is a six-part adaptation of director Lee Chung-hyun’s short film of the same name released in 2015. Cj Enm is attached through its partnership with Paramount. The series won the Best Screenplay award at Cannes Series earlier in the year.

The major players in this Frank Capra film include Frank Sinatra, Edward G. Robinson, Eleanor Parker, Carolyn Jones, Thelma Ritter, and Keenan Wynn. Behind the scenes, shown in a more typical credit scrawl, there is renowned cinematographer William H. Daniels and the equally legendary costumer designer Edith Head. To say A Hole in the Head has much in its favor is quite the understatement. As a film critic, you don’t like to admit certain movies you may have missed. Blue Velvet was one of my dirty little secrets. When I worked at a video store in high school, I gave it a chance. I was about to hit play on the Vcr when a friend wanted to go out. That’s it. I never got around to watching it. Thankfully, the 25th Anniversary Blu-ray showed up on my doorstep and changed that.

Yeah, that headline is a little sick when you think about it in context. Today, David Lynch’s Blue Velvet is released on Blu-Ray by 20th Century Fox/MGM. Not only is it the first time the film enters into high definition but among the special features of the disc is something fans will love – 50 minutes of previously lost footage.

Over the course of three (soon to be four) "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, we've seen the likes of Captain Jack Sparrow, his merry band of pirate pals and even his most cutthroat foes battle their way through extraordinary circumstances involving undead privateers, legendary sea creatures and man-eating tribal warriors.

Green Lanterns are known for saving the galaxy on a daily basis. Fear entities? No problem. Robot invasion? Piece of cake! But what about helping out with the dangers closer to home?

In “Green Lantern,” actor Ryan Reynolds plays Hal Jordan, a normal human being who’s chosen to fulfill a great duty for the universe. But that doesn’t mean he won’t come racing back to Earth if the planet is in need. Turns out, Reynolds is taking a page out of Hal’s book.

The actor is going public to raise funds and awareness for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research. “Ryan is challenging You to help us reach 100,000 Facebook fans by the end of April,” according to the Mjff website. When it does, Reynolds will give $10,000 out of his own pocket to the cause.

Right now, the Facebook page is just shy of 23,000 “Likes.
