The Devil in Mr. Holmes

It's a rather mechanically constructed film made in Italy. There's a lot of wall to wall sex, and a very sad look at how bone thin Mr. Holmes looked from the effects of AIDS while he was boning the girl. Certainly a relic of porn history. Long John has sold his soul to the devil so he can screw his boss's wife.

"Supermaschio per mogli viziose," directed by the enigmatic Giorgio Grand, is a titillating tale of temptation and transformation. With a playful premise and plenty of skin, this adult film offers a fun, if formulaic, ride.

The plot revolves around John Holmes, a meek bank employee who struggles with self-esteem and women. After failed attempts at therapy, he encounters the Devil, who offers him a deal: sign a blank contract, and he'll become a super seducer, able to charm any woman with just a gaze. Of course, John agrees, and thus begins his journey from shy to sly.

The film shines when it embraces its absurdity. John's newfound power leads to hilarious and heated encounters, including a sizzling scene with Karin Schubert, who plays his boss's wife, Karin. Their tryst is a highlight, with Karin's secret watching and self-pleasure adding a naughty twist.

But it's the orgy that takes the cake. John, his two horny buddies (the dynamic duo of Christophe Clark and Jean Pierre Armand), and a bevy of beauties, including German tourists Tracey Adams and Amber Lynn, come together for a raunchy romp. The energy is high, and the performances are enthusiastic.

However, the film stumbles with its dubbing. The English voiceover work is distractingly poor, detracting from the otherwise steamy scenes. The story also feels thin, with the Devil's return at the end feeling rushed and underdeveloped.

One standout scene involves the sultry Marina Hedman, who brings a touch of class to the proceedings. Marina, trapped in an unhappy marriage, succumbs to John's devilish gaze, and they share a passionate encounter. The scene is made even hotter by Karin's secret spectating, her hidden desires adding fuel to the fire. Hedman's performance is a tour de force, and she owns every frame, especially when she enjoys a vaginal and anal penetration from Clark and Armand.

In another memorable scene, the gorgeous Nathalie Christal receives a golden shower from Christoph Clark, a kinky twist that showcases the film's playful approach to pleasure.

Overall, "Supermaschio per mogli viziose" is a mixed bag. The actual sex scenes are top-notch, with energetic and attractive performers. However, the plot, though entertaining, is silly, and the dubbing is a distraction. For fans of classic adult films, it's worth a watch, but it's not a masterpiece.

Knowing now that porn "king" John Holmes was infected with the AIDS virus making this movie and that he would die shortly later, left a bad taste in my mouth. After watching Val Kilmore in Wonderland, it left me with the desire to wash my mouth out. I would only recommend seeing this movie if you have a perverse interest in seeing the "legend" in his last movie.

It's clear that John Holmes personal life overshadows any of his films. His AIDS death, his involvement or lack of involvement in the infamous Wonderland murders, his hardcore drug abuse, his "claim" to have bedded some 14,000 women and his countless myth building stories (like a purported tour of combat in Viet-Nam) have left him a mythical legend to some, and a dismal failure to others.

What in blazes was going through John Holmes's brain when he made 3 porno flicks in Italy knowing that he was infected and dying from the AIDS virus.

Holmes looked surprising fit and healthy in this film. The viewer has really no idea that the "King" is only months away from death on March 13, 1988. According to a documentary on John C. Holmes, John felt that everyone in the porno business would get AIDS and die anyhow, so what was the problem with him having unprotected sex with the actresses in this film. Just knowing this fact really made me angry and sick to my stomach. Holmes made a Gay porno flick in which 3 of his co-stars died of AIDS as well.

Who knows who gave John Holmes AIDS, and who really knows who he infected. The bottom line is that this movie stands out in a perverted historical way, just due to the facts related to Holmes and AIDS.

John Holmes was a man of various faces. Some loved him, some hated him; but it's clear that John Curtis Holmes, the King of the porno world was only interested in himself.

This is (apparently) the last entry in John C. Holmes filmography, just before he died of AIDS. It's a rather strange finale film for him, but this doesn't mean that it is good at all. Plot is about Holmes having an encounter with the devil himself, who provides John with extraordinary powers: he'll be able to mesmerize women in order to have sex with them. But he doesn't know that he'll have to pay in return... doing a blow job to the devil!!! This film was made in Italy, and the cast is impressive: Christophe Clark, Karin Schubert, Marina Frajese, Amber Lynn... Sadly, director Grande proves not a particularly good movie maker, and the film drags on until the surprise end. Only of interest for diehard fans of any of the stars.

Holmes and Karin Schubert seemed to develop good chemistry together on the screen. Ms. Schubert seems to think: "If I have to do porn movies, I choose to do them with the BIGGEST ONE" while practising fellatio on Mr. 35.
