Mimi Pinson is a character created by Alfred De Musset in one of his poems ;it spawns an operetta and this film.
Mimi Pinson is a grisette ,a belle de Paris full of joie de vivre ,who enjoys flowers on her balcony in her attic room ;she works in the fashion world ,which does not make much sense .She 's likely to lose her home ,but the man in charge of her eviction falls in love with her .When she discovers the truth, she does not want to hear from him anymore.
The screenplay is weak , disjointed, and looks more like a series of sketches; some are funny : Mister Stevenson speaking now broken French ,now refined language; Denise Grey's hat ....But by and large ,the movie drags on with its interminable dancing scenes.
.....which is too bad for Dany Robin ,who is charming and plays her game well;but it's a far cry from Duvivier 's "la fête à Henriette" ; her co-star is talented Raymond Pellegrin with whom whe would team up again in the 1961 version of "les mystères de Paris" ;watch out for Patrick Dewaere 's short appearance ,as one of Mimi 's kid brothers.
