We finally saw Blade appear in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film — it just wasn’t the Blade played by Mahershala Ali. The first appearance of Blade in the MCU came in “Deadpool & Wolverine” with Wesley Snipes reprising his iconic role.

And now Ali’s “Blade” has been delayed yet again, pulled from Disney’s 2025 release slate entirely. What a disaster.

Marvel chief Kevin Feige first announced a “Blade” reboot back in 2019 with Ali attached to star, and the character was even teased in the post-credits of 2021’s “Eternals,” a would-be franchise that now seems forgotten.

“Blade” has been through many starts and stops, with several writers and directors filtering through and with delays because of the writers strike and more. Through it all, the franchise’s original stars Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff haven’t refrained from talking about it.

“It’s not the actor’s fault,” Snipes said of Ali.

Mahershala Ali recently told Entertainment Weekly that he is feeling optimistic about his upcoming Marvel movie “Blade,” in which he will star as the comic book vampire hunter. The film, which won’t begin production until next year, has had a dramatic development period, to say the least.

Marvel first announced the project at Comic-Con 2019. “Mogul Mowgli” director Bassam Tariq came on board to helm the project in July 2021 with Stacy Osei-Kuffour writing the script, but he exited the film just over a year later and with only two months to go before cameras were set to start rolling. By then, Marvel had already set a Nov. 3, 2023 release date for “Blade.” The release was delayed to September 2024 as a result. “Lovecraft Country” director Yann Demange was brought in. Rumors of overhauled scripts plagued development as the Hollywood strikes put a pause on prep. Marvel bumped the release again to Nov.

Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird) has signed on to star in Bad Apples, a project that’s described as “a biting satirical comedy with thriller elements”. The film will mark the English language debut of Swedish filmmaker Jonatan Etzler (One More Time) and is set to start filming in the UK in the spring of 2024. Bad Apples is being made under an Equity contract, so it will still be able to go into production even if the Screen Actors Guild isn’t over by then… although we hope it will be.

Two of the top streamers on the internet are coming together under a single banner. YouTube star Ludwig Ahgren has become the co-owner of Moist Esports, the gaming organization founded by multiplatform standout Charlie ‘Cr1TiKaL’ White.

The transaction is described as a deal between Moist Esports and Ahgren’s Mogul Moves banner. The two streamers will team up to bring a creator-driven approach to esports. Ahgren plans to name and operate some teams of his own alongside the roster White has already constructed.

Ahgren announced the move in a video on his Mogul Mail channel. White shows up halfway through the video to brag about the Rocket League and Super Smash Bros trophies Moist Esports has won. A cut-down version of the clip also made its way to the official Moist Esports Twitter account.

As confirmed by The Guardian, actor Robert Hardy—probably best known for playing Cornelius Fudge in the Harry Potter movies—has died. A cause of death has not been given, but Hardy’s family says he died at Denville Hall, a London retirement home for actors. He was 91.

Born in England in 1925, Hardy was the son of a college headmaster and attended the University Of Oxford’s constituent school Magdalen College where he briefly studied under J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. Trained as a classical actor, Hardy got his theatrical start at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon but began appearing on TV shortly after. With a career that ran for 70 years, Hardy had roles in The Troubleshooters, Inspector Morse, and Hot Metal, but his biggest TV role was playing veterinarian Siegfried Farnon on the long-running British drama All Creatures Great And Small.

British-born actor Richard Stapley began his film career in Hollywood in the late 1940s. He starred as French nobleman Denis de Beaulieu, who becomes a pawn in Charles Laughton’s revenge plot in the 1951 horror thriller The Strange Door, with Boris Karloff as the menacing manservant Voltan.

Stapley was born in Westcliff, Essex, England, on June 20, 1923. He moved to Hollywood in the late 1940s, where he appeared in such films as The Challenge (1948), The Three Musketeers (1948) with Gene Kelly and Lana Turner, Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women (1949) with June Allyson and Elizabeth Taylor, King of the Khyber Rifles (1953), and Jungle Man-Eater (1954), with Johnny Weissmuller as Jungle Jim.

Australian actor Ray Barrett has died at the age of 82.

The star, who voiced several characters in British TV puppet show Thunderbirds, passed away at a hospital on Australia's Gold Coast on Monday after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Barrett began his acting career when he quit his homeland and moved to England in 1957, landing his first major role in British TV series Emergency - Ward 10 and then longrunning BBC show The Troubleshooters.

He went on to voice characters in two of Gerry Anderson's marionette shows - Thunderbirds and Stingray.

Barrett subsequently found fame in his native Australia starring in a string of TV shows including Burn the Butterflies, Golden Soak and Something in the Air. He was awarded the Australian Film Institute Longford Life Achievement Award in 2005.
