Enjoyable, if not terribly creative or surprising.

UPA was beginning to hit the wall with Magoo shorts toward the end. The problem with the Magoo series was the inherent limitations of the basic premise. The jokes can be rather predictable and thus the quality of the material has to be extremely good or it doesn't work as well. When they were on, the shorts were great, like Trouble Indemnity or When Magoo Flew. This isn't a bad cartoon by any means. But the jokes are old and a bit marginal, which makes predictability a major liability. Worth watching, but not all that special. Recommended for Magoo fans.

    Average near-sighted mixup

Magoo goes lion-hunting with his nephew Waldo, but gets the lion and Waldo mixed up and ends up claiming Waldo as his prize. Typical Magoo, the best part of the film is his incessant muttering as voiced by Jim Backus. Parents may be slightly worried that Magoo unknowingly unloads so many shotgun shells at a family member, but hey, it's all in the name of comedy.
