All the animals in the film where real. Although they were all tamed and raised in captivity, there was still a risk in working with them. During pre-production Zeynep Degirmencioglu had to work extensively with animal trainers to safely work with the animals during filming (learning to hold birds, getting comfortable with having them fly on her, knowing her boundaries with potentially dangerous wildlife such as the deer, etc.).
