Cindy Lynn is trumpeted with an "introducing" credit in SWEET TEMPTATIONS, a decently made if simplistic porn film also known under the title NASTY & SWEET. I found it more diverting than the usual run of Something Weird and Alpha Blue Archives titles, but it fails to pack a wallop.
Cindy's character is also named Lynn (certainly the most popular surname around in the Golden Age), an orally fixated young beauty who is having trouble with her ne'er-do-well boyfriend Tom, well-played by the late '70s numero uno young performer Mike Ranger. In the first romantic scene with Lynn he laments being away from Kentucky, stuck scrounging for acting jobs (all too true) in L.A. Typical of the sloppiness of so many porn films, in the voice-over that ends the film we hear him missing Virginia, how quickly he forgot about his old Kentucky home.
En route to this desultory conclusion (more about that later), we follow a Ranger/Lynn sex scene with a visit while Mike's away by a director carrying a script to drop off, played by tall Tyler Horne/Tyler Reynolds, who Lynn quickly seduces, and her facial complexion is again given another natural treatment -perhaps the budding young actress's trademark.
Lynn phones Jill (lovely Christine Kelly) to go jogging together, resulting in a lesbian scene (big surprise). Lynn next hooks up with an old flame Paul (played by the ubiquitous Jesse Adams). When she's back home with Tom, he figures out she's been with Paul again, a guy who used to beat her up, and he's plenty mad, but not angry enough to avoid another sex scene with Lynn, and yet another ejaculation.
Picture ends with Mike leaving with his script, apparently through with Lynn forever, as he laments in voice-over: "you have to do porno in this f---in' town", a self-reflexive touch if I ever heard one. Despite his good looks and obvious talent I don't think Ranger ever got a legit role, other than his appearance in the stupid Australian comedy FANTASM COMES AGAIN.
Credited to anonymous director Terry Rick, film has another recurring device that is cryptic: after every sex scene the actor involved seems to be suffering from wanderlust with a "gotta go now" reaction. In the case of Tyler, his "wham bam thank you ma'am" approach was actually disconcerting, but none of this means anything in the film's context. Shooting is professional, with a crappy soundtrack featuring such songs as "Misty", "Grazin' in the Grass", "It's a Wonderful World", "St. Louis Blues", "If Ever I Saw Your Face" and "Willow Weep for Me" inserted randomly.
