Does anyone know where I can rent this movie?
I went with a friend to see URBAN MYTHOLOGY at a festival, and wow! By the end credits, I was exhausted. This movie has a plot that defies anything I've ever seen. The actors have a heyday carrying us through a series of mishaps and mayhem as various quirky characters get choked, shot, framed for a murder they DID commit, sodomized and generally manipulated. By who? The screenwriter, I guess.
URBAN MYTHOLOGY has the potential to be like AMERICAN GRAFFITTI or FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH where a cast of unknown actors makes the most of a new director and a great script. The only actors I recogonized were the mom from the TV show "Boy Meets World" and the guy who plays her husband was on "Beverly Hills 90210", plus an actress who does a lot of Kevin Smith movies.
The camerawork is great, and doesn't try to intrude on the story and the acting, but find a style all on its own. If you have a chance to see this movie, check it out, but make sure you bring a notepad and slide rule.

The story for this movie is one of the best I've seen. Very Paul Anderson-ish. Wow! Great writing helps knock this a step above other indie films.
The actors are super too, with the best of the bunch being the super-hot Jamie McCoy playing Marcia, a frenzied student. She's cool!
Hope this gets picked up, it deserves it.

Terrific movie which gets a lot of bang for its small budget. Solid directing and tech work, but the acting really helps it stand out. Wonderful performances all the way around. Among the best were Betsy Randel and Jamie McCoy. Any word on release dates?
I saw this movie at the New York International Film Festival, and it totally caught me by surprise. It has one of the most topsy turvy, double-back, switching back twisting storylines I have ever read. We see stories told about a group of people in one community, and the stories are told one at a time, until halfway through when they start to blend back into one another until everything is wrapped up neatly in a bow by the end.
The dialogue is really intense and hip and although I didn't recognize any of the actors, it has some of the best acting I have seen in an independent film.
Its funny and dark and needs multiple viewings to try and figure out all the connections and turns in it. I haven't been able to find this movie at Blockbuster, so hopefully this means there's a chance it might get an arthouse run so I could see it again on the big screen.
Great music and sound, too.
