Monique Parent said in an interview that she didn't want to make this movie because the script was awful. But her own manager was making it and pressured her into it. He also said he didn't care if it was a great movie. He just wanted it to make money. Parent never understood why someone would put their own clients in a movie knowing it was going to be bad.
